Well it is a fact that with a developed pallet wine will affect how you taste food and vice versa. Obviously it makes no difference if you live off ready meals and tesco house white.

I'm not sure I entirely agree with that, because yes, while a developed palate will have a greater appreciation of the nuances, even the dullest of palets will be able to grasp the fundamentals of taste such as Bitter, sweet, salt and acids.

Obscure reference to Mister Ed, horse, high horse, so on ;)

Quite, as i said before; was trying to tell Olga and Moriath that they're not speaking of the same thing. Olga is talking about the fact that yes, wine and food together XYZ. Mori was talking about taste and personal preference as such.

Both are right. Facts and science and expensive wines with kobebeef won't change it if someone thinks they taste like sh*t ;)

You might well prefer building your house with sticky tape, chewing gum and twigs, and you might love it!
Or have no use for the likes of bricks, cement and motar...and yet you cannot argue with thier superiority
when it comes to the mechanics of building a house can you? So no it's not a matter of a opinion, it's a matter of simple facts.

ok, I'm done now :D I'll be much nicer to @Moriath from now on

Well if we're having final notes; There is no such thing as superiority in matters of taste. That's about it.

Any thoughts.....

If wine connysirs just said that wine tastes nice instead of building this bullshit world of snobbery around wine to satisfy the egos of everyone involved..I meet people all the time who think that by having some knowledge of wine gained from a celebrity book that people will be impressed with their insight into the delicate mechanics of taste.
They spout out names of obscure wines in some dick waving competition just waiting for someone to say they don't give a shit and then sighing at their lack of culture.
So called wine experts are pretty well much an industry of people who's job it is to give some faux importance to a brand of alcohol that is grape flavoured.
Fuck me I know some fuckwats who every time we go for a meal sneer at our house wine then patronisingly say it's actually quite cheerful, like they have given their seal approval to our incompetence.

I understand the science that wine makes things taste different. ;)

Mixing food does that too.

But I hate fish and mixing a supposedly complementary wine with fish still won't make me like it.

So that it makes thing better is preference. ;)

Beer makes kebabs taste better ;). Lol

Merry Xmas @Olgaline

of course, in the end it's all about preference, and thats cool with me.
No point in paying for a £1000 whisky if you arent going to enjoy it etc..

Beer makes kebabs taste better ;). Lol

Agreed :D

Actually - blind taste tests show that most wine experts don't know their cabernet from wij's bum juice.

Yes there's good and bad wines - but there's a lot of profit in making wine out to be more than it is. Just like fucking retards will spend thousands on cables because of percieved but non-existent better-ness there's a fuckload of people who'll spend a lot more on wine unnecessarily.

Every GF or friend so far hates or despises FH. The common denominator seems is always the putrid green backdrop. So much hate on the colour. Maybe it would be fitting to make a change right now!

I'm sure the Daily mail has many tantalizing and intriguing stories, also it's a well known fact across the wines scene that wij's bum juice is somewhat of a specialy highly rated delicay
I think Oz Clark rated it at no less than 94 pts.

That is true of any market really, and not exclusive to wines

The best ever was the BBC consumer programme Thats Life..they invited world renowned wine experts to windsor castle to taste a new wine they were marketing..one that the Queen herself had picked...they had all the butlers and fancy backdrops but they served them pure vinegar...they all came up with exotic descriptions to describe the bold step of leaning towards a more tarty boquet.
Only the American said 'This is vinegar'
The faces on the rest was pure comedy gold.

This, I find the best price bracket for wine is around £10 anything more and you are paying more than you need for what is essentially the same thing. There are some terrible wines about but mostly that is preference, I can't stand sweet wines for example and I don't understand how people like them but horses for courses etc

That's from white wine, personally I find all red wine tastes like vinegar, regardless of the price.
