Wish I could have gone on strike when we didn't get a pay rise for five years in a row.

But it doesn't work like that in normal companies they just sack you and get someone else.

So I don't see why public sector people should be able to hold others to ransom.

You can go on strike, create a union, but the private sector says 'haha look at the public sector, y'all get paid more than that, so why would you want to strike?'

Barely anyone notices when the public sector goes on strike. Utter waste of time for the most part.

Yeah, they really should go on strike which makes a difference, they've sort of lost the justification behind strikes, because it doesn't hamper anything.

Frankly, the hospitals & fire service should go on strike at the same time.

I can't really identify myself with these university strike workers, I'm a meaningless peon at work who can be replaced at the snap of a finger, thats the level I'm at right now. I want to improve that though. By doing a degree sure I might get the opportunity to do a job where I can strike, although I can't see it myself, striking as a nurse goes against my morals. I'm not going to say no sorry, I can't help you I want a pay rise to someone who needs my help.

Equally, when you take up a job to share your knowledge with people who want to develop that knowledge in to a career I see that it's being a mother fucker of a selfish cunt who can say to people who have spent years trying to get a piece of paper that says "I can do this job, or at least get in at a starter level" no sorry, I want a pay rise. You'll just have to wait.

That's why nurses earn fuck all despite doing one of the most important jobs, whilst the average pleb working in a bank earns more.

Witholding your services for fair pay is the only option left for some people.

30k for restaurant waiting staff in the nordics tho...

You disagree that striking as a nurse goes against my morals?

No I disagreed with your post. I think your viewpoint is flawed and you're morally mistaken.

Saying nurses should never strike...? That's saying nurses can never stand up for themselves. As a patient I can understand that they need to do that.

Been working in a mates house with tenants..the guy has a gas leak..the gas company have been out three times..I've been out twice...it's been switched off for a week..so National grid said...'have you done anything?'..'no' he says..so I ask him has he done any diy. 'still no'.
He starts getting really arsey..saying he has had no heating for a week...then the prick rings up my mate...he suddenly remembered he had spent the day just before the gas smell hammering nails into the bedroom floor to stop the boards creaking. The nail was right through the gas pipe but it only leaked when the idiot was in bed and his weight sprung the board and nail out of the pipe.
I'd been the house 5 hours in total..

I am not saying no one should strike I am saying that if part of the working population can then the rest should too.

In a country where the health service isn't commercially driven the nurses are always going to be on a lower wage than the people who are cared for by then think they should be on.

If someone else is paying it should always be more.

But I do think the public sector wages should be graduated on where you live more so that nurses can afford a one bed flat where ever they live. Same for teachers fire men etc.

But we would be bankrupt as a country for that to happen.

So we either suck up what we have or turn into a private service be hatch like the states.

I'm surprised one of sites isn't the 'Little Mermaid' in Copenhagen. The usual tourist response after seeing it is "But it is so small..?". Well duh, you idiot, hence the name LITTLE Mermaid!

Tourists are shit. Enjoy the scene ffs

What scene? The back-drop of factorys and dockyards?

The little mermaid is 100% genuine certified shit. 0/10 would not kiss so she turns into a real person.

Exactly my point. Brochures and tourist guides are making things up to be something which they are not. The Little Mermaid sits on a stone, and that is it. It is the history of the Little Mermaid which is fascinating.

The whole scenery comment was more pointed towards the link Job shared. The Grand Canyon is nothing special? The Taj Mahal is nothing special bathed in moon light? The Statue of Liberty is just a statue(the name sort of gives it away)? What sort of idiots wrote those reviews? Most likely Americans or that angry brit who got his own tv show being a bigot whilst going abroad.

Well anything bigged up is going to dissapoint..especially when 20 thousand people turn up at once to see it and they have to set up a rotisserie arrangement so you can get your turn..plus all the resultant commercialisation...big tourist attractions are awful..spoilt by sheer numbers...many of those reviewers were right and were simply longing for a lost chance to admire the true spectacle without the mess.

Crowds can be avoided at a lot of attractions though. The second time I went to Angkor Wat, I went at 5am for the sunrise, as did several thousand others. However every single one of them went to the exact same spot, to get the exact same sunrise-over-the-lake photo that's been taken a million times.

which admittedly looks great, until you realise your version looks way worse and this is where you take it from

While they did that I actually went inside the temple, which was completely empty except me and the two girls I was with. I have to say being in the worlds biggest temple that was built in the 12th century, while it's empty, is fucking awesome.
