I think you haven't. :p

In short; more to save from. If they both only paid rent, then joe highcash would have double the money.

That's gaining something, not including what Scouse mentioned about better living etc etc.

Awww Bodhi. The predictable question of a sore loser. :D

And quite predictably you've gone for the ad-hom route and avoided the question - if you think it is such a good way of doing things, why don't you move there? Not a sarcy question in any way shape or form.

I mean personally I'm always toying with the idea of moving to the States or Holland, however am more than happy staying in the UK, as to be honest - I still think this is a fucking great place to live. Good healthcare, free education up until 18 - but with the option to go private if you wish, plenty of nice, reasonably affordable places to live (if you avoid the South East, which I tend to), similar standard of living to the Scandinavian countries, one of the best performing economies in Europe and still plenty of chances to better oneself.

Why is it less fair?

Everyone is expected to go into some form of higher education in Denmark - whether it's to do something Academic or learn a trade. It's all free. Not sure why that's less fair? Everyone gives, everyone has the opportunity to take.

Because all things are not equal. Spending 6 years becoming a doctor is not the same as spending 6 months learning how to wire a plug.

Would you extend the one size fits all to housing too? Free housing for all for 10% of all salaries.

No, he wouldn't. The (massively generalising) point made before was that everything (shopping, utilities etc) cost twice as much so, although you would have double the money left over after rent... everything costs twice as much so you would be about as wealthy as the person on half the wages with half the living costs..

Well apparently you only pay rent and have absolutely no other living costs so you must be special.

If you choose to take your kids to private school in Denmark you're allowed to take the money with you, it would cost the state to have your child in community school. So you only pay the difference.

What i meant was that by earning more you have the potential to save more, while with a low income(even with cheaper stuff) you still don't have the potential to save any more.

I know it might not be relevant, but i find the potential a "bonus" so to speak and since it was asked "aren't they the same" i had to say no.

I don't mean to derail it any futher and if you feel it's irrelevant or off-topic of what was discussed then apologies, didn't mean to intrude/derail anything.

why don't you move there?

You've already asked me that question elsewhere on the forum in response to me saying there can be better systems than the one we use in the UK. You already know the answer - for the same reason you "toy" with the idea of moving to the states or holland (and I've already explicitly given my reasons in answer to that question a long time ago for you).

You get butthurt by the fact that there are better systems elsewhere - and outright offended when people come up with evidence to support that view. So you resort to asking utterly moronic questions...

Don't understand why you've gone from "higher taxation" to "everybody has the same wage" or "everybody has the same housing"...

It's like you've been programmed to think of alternative economic policies as "OH SHIT! COMMIES!".

So weird.

So what are you saying, you'd like me to use the Search function to find out why you haven't moved to Denmark yet? Or are you, once more, trying to avoid answering the question as you're too busy getting personal? M8? In the time it took you to foam at the mouth and generally get on your high horse you could have simply just answered the question? Oh sorry I forgot, you are Scouse. You can't get on your high horse because you never get off the fucking thing in the first place.

Anyway butthurt about better systems elsewhere? Sorry but I don't agree, either about the butthurt, or the fact the Nordic countries do it better than us, as frankly, I don't think they do. We generally attain similar standards of living in terms of health care and education serving a population around 6-7 times as big with much lower levels of taxation. From what I can gather from a quick Google, the only Nordic country with a better education system than ours is Finland (fair play to them as well), and the NHS frequently appears to be mentioned as the best in the world.

Not sure I'd read too much into these happiness index surveys either - mainly as us Brits have always been a grumpy lot, never missing an opportunity to have a moan and a whinge - that and the countries near the top of the mystical happiness index also appear close to the top of the antidepressant consumption leagues - and, as mentioned, the suicide rates as well. What's more there's a perfectly good reason for this - much as being poor in a money driven society can drive feelings of unhappiness and disenfranchisement, being unhappy in a society driven by happiness can also lead to increased feelings of isolation.

And that's without pointing out any of the bad bits of Nordic societies, like Denmark topping the league tables for household debt and cancer, or their questionable approach to race relations, the previously mentioned problems in Sweden, or the fact that Finland still haven't figured out a language anyone else can understand.

Don't get me wrong I love traveling in Scandinavia - Norway especially is a beautiful country with thoroughly hospitable people, and I think they do an awful lot of things right - even a few we could learn from in the UK. But to try to copy their way of doing things lock stock and barrel? Not a chance - their culture is quite different from ours. If we were to copy anyone, I'd be much more interested in looking at Switzerland without the dodgy banking laws. They no doubt have issues of their own (a complete lack of sense of humour for one, and we'd have to do away with the ban on motorsports), but give them credit, they seem to have democracy pretty well nailed.

OMG just replaced the glass on my Note..I was very apprehensive...but just ignored all the advice and picked the broken glass off with a tiny screwdriver..banged on the new glass by cutting up the wrong adhesive stickers they sent and got about 20 specs of dust...4.95 all in result and if it breaks again you just peel it off the stickers and bang a new one on.

Well done :)

If I was raging I reckon my post would have included at least 3 horrible diseases I've just learned from House, a dubious reference to your mother and at least one use of the word "thundercunt " :)

On a different note, it's all going to kick off in the States again. Whilst I agreed with the Ferguson decision, I'm at a loss for words with today's. Illegal choke holds, coroners ruling homicide and no charges brought. Dafuq?
