Some great news out of the world of Sony.

http://petapixel.com/2014/11/12/son...-heights-active-pixel-color-sampling-sensors/

Their Exmor sensors were awesome enough, but this is a whole new leap forward in awesome. Expect to see the tech in smartphones and into DSLRs in the next couple of years.

Sounds pretty good tbh, also interested to see what happens with this curved sensor they've been working on.

That article loses several points for them not spelling Xperia properly tho

My word, does anyone remember the show Cybernet? I remember having to set my alarm for 3am and sneak downstairs to watch this.

Just had bacon and eggs for breakfast. Took a picture. But was so delicious, I ate the picture as well. My poo will come out all pixellated tomorrow. Oh well.

Damn auto correct. Yes how shit the gfx were back then but we were happy playing the games

That's what was "top notch graphics" back then. Same with all areas of gaming/gaming hardware, it just evolved naturally. If youw ere there from the start then all graphics have looked like uber graphics :p

Land of the Dead is such a terrible movie. I can't believe I watched the whole thing.

I have been pic gaming since 1992. And computer gaming since 1982 so I know how gfx have evolved. I was pointing out that we loved those gfx, but looking back they look rubbish. But we were happy playing with them because usually the playability was pushed higher than the looks a lot of the time.

My memory seems to scale the graphics of games I played a long time ago so I think that they were a lot better than actually were. I used to love Jedi Knight Dark Forces II, and I looked at a video of it the other day and could barely work out wtf was going on. Still a great game though. I guess when you think of the great games you've played, you don't really remember the graphics; you remember the fun gameplay. Which kinda reinforces my belief that the modern focus on linear games with big flashy set pieces with simple quick time events is a bad direction to go in.

I loved a game called Landstalker on the megadrive. Isometric action(ish) RPG. was obsessed with it for years, always looking out for a copy on ebay and such.

Anyway, got it for an emu a few years ago and it just looks and plays like crap, the controls alone make zero sense whatsoever and the combat is infuriating, really wish I hadn't bothered.

Hence Bioshock: Infinite being an utterly dull pile of shite (IMO -before some fanboi jumps on me).

I liked Gribbley's Day Out much more ;)

Yeah and i was pointing out that those GFX were the preverbial shit during those times. Just like now.

They weren't shit graphics in the 80s ;)

Hell, one of my best memories of an old game is playing Day of the Tentacle on my mam's, ex-boyfriend's DOS PC and having to input all the commands to get the game to run when I was about 6 years old. I long for the day it gets a remake/re-release on GOG or Steam.

PS Scouse stfu, Bioshock Infinite was awesome!

Yeah, its graphically good but has virtually zero moments of excitement. They may as well have put it on rails. The story was pretty good though, just badly told at times.

Apparently Cameron had inventions on the 2.1 billion Euro fee and Swedish newspapers said he wanted to settle the amount politically instead of the guys actually having a clue about what they are doing. Good god, you have a child in your prime minister seat.

Day of the tentacle was awesome with the untwined story line. And having to manipulate the 640k of memory with your extended or expanded memory to make enough to launch the game.

Bill Gates statement that you would never need more than 640k of memory hehe

Got so bored I gave up. There are better vehicles for pure story. They're called books.

Personally I think the best games that ever came out were on the Playstation 1, they were good times. Really loved Breath of Fire 4, had some good moments in that game.
