Obviously that is true..but we have to bother or nothing would ever get invented and refined.
At the present battery technology we would have to rape the planet to build electric cars for everyone and cause environmental damage way beyond fossil fuel.
Oh and produce gigawatts more electricity to charge them all.

Andn also the (a fair amount more than bleated by the guardian) carbon footprint of these things.

The battery tech is no where near ready for public consumption, neither ecologically or technologically. So frankly, why bother?

True. Also a friend mentioned when you scrap a car and re-use the parts (i don't remember the percentage, someone?) the electric car has pretty shitty re-use value, material wise.

Yup, all it is doing is offsetting the world raping to China, but so long as Jonny Westerner can claim his all eco friendly its fine.

Then there is the financial cost, the cars cost more in the first place because of the batteries, then you end up having to replace them later in life anyway, or scrap your 5 year old car.

One of the main problems I have with the Tesla, is it just isn't a quality piece of kit, and for 80k+ for me, that would be an issue. I had a poke around one last time I was in the Netherlands and the fit and finish was laughably bad, massive panel gaps, cheap and nasty plastics - a typical American car really. Talking to a couple of owners, apparently this doesn't get any better as you run the car - bits falling off, random software issues with that ridiculous massive screen on the dash. Their opinion was that it wasn't even in the same league as a BMW/Audi, but the tax breaks they got meant they were half the price. I also recall someone trying to set a lap time round the Nurburgring in one - 3 minutes in in went into limp home mode as the motors had overheated - again, not what you'd expect for the price.

I'd be more interested in the i8 - fantastic looking car (saw one last week - looks stunning), and the petrol motor at least gets rid of some of the range anxiety - still seems a bit artificial to me. There is talk of an i8S though, with a beefier electric motor and a straight 6 in the back for some serious grunt - maybe this will hit the spot a bit better.

I'd still buy an M car (M3/4/5/6) and spend the rest on fuel however.

Tories blah blah blah bankers blah blah blah.

Seems to be a lot of focus on his 2010 Election campaign. And a lot of Tory rage, cunningly missing the fact that we don't actually have a Tory government......

Statistics can be used to prove anything and there is a lot that happened because of the fallout of the credit crisis and would have been done by any government, it just so happened that the coalition were in power at the time.

Oh and it's a coalition of MPs that have made these choices some of which are supported by the Labour Party. Not just one man. Things like raising the income tax allowance to ten grand and other stuffs have been good as well as the austerity things that most countries have gone through in the last five years.

Sadly despite him being a massive cunt I agree. alternatives - ed miliband? fucking please, nigel farage? bwhahahaha or nick clegg? i'd rather hand it over to some random tramp in the street than let clegg run things. Despite all that, Cameron is still a monumental cunt and doesn't value people that don't have a lot of money to throw around.

I'm just currently thinking Thank Jeebus I don't live in Scotland any more, it seems Big Brother will be allowed into people's houses now.

FREEDOM!
Interesting.

Although I don't think they should be fought legally - I think that the SNP should be allowed to implement such policies, and if they don't win the next elections, then they know fully why.

That's the fun of a democracy.

You obviously have more faith in the SNP's view on democracy than I do - witness Salmond's latest bleatings about seeing Independence in his lifetime. What happened to the settles will of the Scottish people?

Well, the SNP were voted in for their nationalism agenda and for their socialist policies, which makes the Labour party look Conservative.

Frankly, if the Scottish people want socialism, then they should get it, it's up to them, if they have a problem with it, get rid of the SNP by voting in a new party, or thankfully, as you know, there's a land border with this place called England, and us Tory lovers would happily accept more to bolster our numbers.

This is the issue, Scotland wanted independence, and a Independent Scotland would mean a potentially Scandanavian-esque socialist nation, we said to the people, no, you don't need to leave the UK to achieve that, so they should be able to achieve it.

How can you say Scotland wanted independence though? It was rejected in a democratic vote?
