Got so bored of that game because, whilst the setting and graphics and idea of it is great, the actual mechanics of combat were fucking awful. Shame.

From FPS to FPS your movement is massively different. Quake was different from Unreal tournament was different from Half Life - and a lot of people had a strong preference for one over the others.

The movement mechanics (combined with the absolutely atrocious NPC AI) for Fallout ruin what would otherwise be a great game for me.

Some guys have made a mod on arma 3 where you can build anything you want.

My biggest complaint with the new survival sandbox games, Rust, DayZ was that it was either a good shooter with quite poor building/survival mechanics, or visa versa, if this mod was applied to other mods and if DayZ was planning on using it, it should solve my complaint.

While i'm a fan,(doubt you even know what a fanboi is) i also know how to make the game better with mods and substitute "omg noscope fps fanboi" bullsh*t for story and something actually interesting.

Like any other halfwitted PC player out there would know how to do. Oh right sorry, you were talking about FPS players.

To be fair, for an initial play through it shouldn't need mods (which it doesn't really) and even with all the mods in the world, the core gun mechanics and movement are crap.

Compared to a full on FPS as an FPS, yes, quite much so. That's a given.

That being said with iron sights, more guns, clip waste, ammo weight, advanced movement etc it becomes average+ and when you add that to what else the game provides it makes up for it(in my opinion becomes better even).

With modding being as easy as it is i don't consider "needs mods" to be any kind of negative thing anymore, outside what's offered to consoles ofcourse(but who plays with those?). Sure the developer for reasons XYZ messed up, but if you can fix things with a click of a button then the enjoyment of a game does fall on your effort.

Lol @old.Tohtori - says he's not a total Fallout fanboi and he starts immediately with the personal insults.

I got bored of Skyrim for the same reason. Great story - but the game mechanics ruined what would have been a very pleasureable experience.

Make Skyrim or Fallout with decent NME AI and Q3 style movement mechanics and I'd be right there - because I love a good story.

But they play like they're designed for a console and a non-keyboard-and-mouse user, for some reason. Wonder why that is?

While I agree the mechanics could be a lot better, the game itself is very good.

Love the story, settings etc. But for me the game itself became dull because of it. If it ain't a pleasure to "do stuff" - which is what you play games for - then the story, unless exceptional, isn't enough to keep me. I've got other uses of my time.
