Don't have one anymore. She went back to Sri Lanka having built her family home and is very happy. When she did work for us we paid her over twice the norm and 10x what she would earn in a clerical job in her homeland. She was one of the family and treated as such. We went to see her and the family whilst on holiday in southern part of Sri Lank last year a and still communicate with her. Hardly a slave. I even paid for her mothers operation and subsequent medication when she fell ill in fall 2013.

I don't agree with the treatment of the mainly sub continent workers here. However, don't rush to judge the local Arabs regards how they get the jobs and arrive in Dubai as virtual slaves. it is their own people tricking them into coming here and taking out loans to pay for way overpriced VISA's etc. They get sold on a dream and treated like crap. Have their passports taken away and put into jobs they never agreed to and at much lower pay than they were told. Indians cheating Indians who them hire them to local contractors. The Government here has actually done a lot to curb this but it is on such a huge scale and have no only just started to tackle it.

India is a far different story. Dog eat dog and 90% slum. Go there and see it for yourself.

Only way out is to run or kill yourself. Actually happened to a guy in our own Repair workshop. Hung himself at his apartment. He was on a decent salary but still got into problems with the lenders back home.

So why doesn't Dubai help these people? The money the 'Mafia' is asking for is probably peanuts, compared to what the Sheikhs make in a second.
