I really feel sorry for people who work for Phones 4U - Someone here did didn't they?

It's shit that they've had to shut up shop because they couldn't secure contracts with EE and Vodafone, and as soon as they go into administration, the vultures arrive to pick up the pieces.

I wonder if this'll be looked into; Did Vodafone & EE purposely do it to cut out a middle man? - It seems quite harsh if so.

I'm surprised they are bothering to take the shops.
Meh, a high-street presence is still relatively important, and I think it always will be.

People on forums questioning high street shops, you're still a minority :)

Don't know much about the current setup at P4U, but the old business was brutal. They used to poach staff from other retailers on massive salaries and OTE but they were usually back asking for their old jobs back after three months. Apparently a horrible place. But the old management sold up a few years back so I don't know if they're different now. As for retail; it seems odd that they lost Voda and EE so close, which would definitely suggest some issue on the P4U side (I'm guessing cashflow covenants, same as did for GAME last time around).

Phones 4u were always a dodgy bunch to me..the adverts were beyond awful and the shops were run by people who couldn't get jobs as car salesman because they were too slimy...I went in to one in Liverpool to buy a 50 quid phone on offer..it was entirely staffed by Indians in slick suits...they greeted me as the next schmuck..I said I only wanted to buy the offer phone...I swear to god all but one turned away in disgust and the guy left treated me like I was a piece of shit on his shoes...and this bit is true..I got up and said in a loud voice..you 'fuckin shysters' and walked out...they wanted to fill me in but had to do some quick damage limitation on the customers left.

Don't think there's anything wrong with not renewing your contract with a third party selling your goods and once one does it why would the other stay with them. They have their own stores on the high street already.

It's always a dodgey position being reliant on two suppliers that have their own high street presence. I would never have thought of going to them over direct to the carrier tbh
