I think you're missing the point slightly.

FWIW, iPhones are still hugely popular and people interact with them FAR more than on Android devices (our stats show its about a factor of four), so if you're in the online business you can't simply say "Apple, bunch of cunts, fuck 'em", and its also why I have an iPhone as my main device, so this is a good thing.

Meh. Of course it's a "good thing". But being clearer - apple are to be spat on and derided, not praised, for not having it from the start. It's still a cunt of a company, and this development just serves to show how big a cunt they've been...

They aren't cunts really. They just have an extremely gullible client base. Excellent thing to have when you are in the business of selling over priced, under developed crap to idiots.

They also have very secure devices where you don't get ripped off for installing an app that makes phone calls when you put it on charge. They don't have that because it is locked down. You can bitch and moan about people being idiots for buying them but the quality of the phones and the Applications added with the services which is matched by no one means the device is very attractive locked down or not.

I do not believe you have to be an idiot to buy one you need to be able to afford it and not give a shit about widgets shit applications and dragging and dropping files easily.

Has anyone heard the Samsung are producing their own OS for their smartphones?

Bit torn on this one, who will have the most bloat and spyware?

As for easy file copying, the new androids are a joke, it's so hard to work out how to transfer files from your pc, in fact I've given up because you have to do all kinds that doesn't seem to work to use XP, so I've got a wifi transfer app, works like a dream.

ES File Explorer.

Or plug it into your PC via USB...

I think all this talk of rogue apps is bullshit. Only if you're the kind of fektard that tries out every app on the planet from every developer could you possibly come a-cropper.

And other than "in the media" I've never heard of a single person have a single problem - which suggests to me that the stories are manufactured...

Nah its a fair point that apple offer a lot of protection...however restricting use of the device also restricts choice. There are rogue apps about but they are usually pretty easy to spot.

Its all a bit aunty really. Apple telling you what you can and can't do on your device (without jailbreaking it) I don't want any corp telling me what I can or can't do with my property.

Rogue apps get reported and taken down, its user error that download them, read reviews before installing. I will always stick with Android over apple as it allows me to do what I want instead of being locked down. Plus the battery life of my HTC One M8 can probably outlast 3 iphones one after another.

I work in support and some of our customers are at the lower end of the smart choices scale and the hacking apps are real and can be expensive. A group of farmers installed Fart Joke apps which made their phones call 0845 numbers when charging. It only cost about £200 across the contracts but it was still an issue.

*Yes I admit this is all user error but it is user error that the locked down iPhone makes impossible.

Second time they've tried. This is actually a play for wearables really. Can't see why you'd bother with a phone though.

Transferring files on Android is a piece of piss.

Try activating USB debugging in the developer menu on the phone.

Also, remember to unlock the handset with your password or pattern.

Would be a bit shit if you could just plug a security locked phone into any old PC and just copy all the files...

This is a driver issue. XP is no longer supported so it won't be able to get the correct drivers for your phone.
it does give instructions to download a program to make it work..not a driver..but it just doesnt make sense

I can't tell if you're intentionally trying to look like an idiot when you post or if it just comes naturally. Either way, you pull it off magnificently.

you need to unlock the phone screen, and if that alone doesn't work the usb debugging.

You are full of fail today, although you are right that YouTube are now blocking lots of content on mobiles.

I always feel dirty when I have to help people with XP it just feels slow and old. It is like going to a friends house and they still have an old tube TV because you can't really tell the difference with HD anyway. There is exactly nothing wrong with Win 8 that can't be solved by using it for a month.

And to say win7 is "just xp but uses more ram and resources" is just fucking retarded, there's no two ways about it.

For just a media server? YOU MAD BRO. Put Ubuntu Server on it with Plex. It will run like shit off a shovel compared to having an entire Win install for just serving media.
