I can't believe this site:

Mothers Against Videogame Addiction and Violence

http://www.mavav.org/

of particular amusement is this :

"Symptom: Unusual "Role-Playing"
Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPG) is a digital escape from the real world for emotionally unhealthy and mentally unstable people. It is a place for computer enthusiasts and social outcasts to gather un-bothered and un-harassed by the realities of real life.

While the focus and idea behind MMORPG seems utopian and innocent, the emotional and mental wellness of the gamer can be severely affected: increased anxiety and irritability, argumentative, appetite and weight loss, impaired judgment, paranoia, sadness and depression, loss of interest in appearance, and sleeplessness

Videogame addiction has become so serious now that the mass-media now compares videogame addiction to alcohol and drug abuse."

Weight loss? whilst sat on my fat arse levelling to 50 I gained 3 lbs! ;)

Maybe people who play continously and lose track of reality will suffer from those symptoms... in which case the parents are to blame. The same mothers who formed 'mavav'.

And no... I'm not in denial :p

possibly true, but not _everyone_ who plays mmorpgs is like that.

its like saying everyone who drives cars are prone to roadrage. sure, for some people it does, but its not fair to generalise the _entire_ population of motorists,

Are there alot of roleplayers in DAoC? I'd heard that it wasn't very widespread, but then I did meet some roleplaying crafters last night who were very helpful indeed.... didn't ask them if they were overweight though :)
