About the Evina virus

Evina recently showed in our irc channel a screenshot of her taming a level 60 pet. Problem is, that webpage was infected with the HTML.Redlof.A virus.

She insists that she wasn't aware of this and after further checking it turns out its on a computer either at work or the isp host. This was not a malicious act by her so please be easy on her.

I am not a technical guru when it comes to such matters but I do know that if you have Norton it should catch it (did with me and most everyone else I know).

But here is some info about it:

3. In the registry key

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dllFile

the virus changes these subkeys:

DefaultIcon

is changed to the same value as the value of the DefaultIcon subkey that is under the registry key

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\vxdfile

It adds the subkey ScriptEngine

and changes its value to

VBScript

It adds the subkey ScriptHostEncode

and changes its value to

{85131631-480C-11D2-B1F9-00C04F86C324}

----------------------------

Check that. If it's not like that, you most likely don't have the virus.

From my P.o.W Evina's not the one to blame here now.
