It's kind of a shame he(?)'s so well camoflaged. Love reptile eyes. :D

Here's one from last night's Ghostpoet gig at London Scala. Just a quick snap from my mobile, cropped and very minor contrast correction.

I just had a nice new lens delivered today...

Canon 70-200 F4L IS USM (would have loved the 2.8 but that was about 800 quid extra so fuck that)

Cannot wait to go take some pics with this :)

Not sure about either of these for a theme 'Communication'. Might have to give it another go next week.

This is the biggest issue I have, noone (who has the expertise) responds to those who have uploaded images and are awaiting critisim. Instead we get wankers who just want to post utter bollox.

Can you tell, I am fucked off. If you havent posted a pic or provided constructive critism then please JUST FUCK OFF. I know my photos could do with some post-processing and would love to know.

I think the problem with yours, Deebs, is that you're zoomed too far in. I'd rather look at a photo with good composition but bad processing than vice-versa. This is mainly because you can fix pretty much anything with Photoshop or Lightroom these days.

To be fair, I'm not really in a position to complain about the off-topicness and trolling. That's pretty much all I do.

Don't know why the word voyeur is perceived as bad though.

P.S. I think Deebs is drunk again ;)

Cheers, thanks for the advice. Any photo I post here will be unprocessed unless the Camera has done some fancy work. I hope I get to test out a more advanced camera and len than an handheld this weekend!

Dunno, it's not always about the camera though. I've seen some awesome pictures taken with a mobile phone!

I don't get the link. How do you even know this?

Clown,

explain what was wrong with my croc pics in your mind. Am seriously interested considering I just bought a £1000 lens today.

In my humble opinion then, I would have preferred to have more context in the picture. Zoom out a bit and have a bit more of it's surrounding.

At the moment it is just a close-up of a crocodile/alligator which is what it is. It's a cool shot to show that you spotted the reptile but as an interesting picture, it just doesn't do it for me.

I think a good measurement for these kinds of images would be "Would you be happy having this picture as your computer wallpaper?".

If I was you though, I would much rather have saved up for the f/2.8. I'm not a big fan of buying twice. Are you not comfortable with buying a second hand one? Other than the kit lens, both of my other lenses were second hand. Hell, you could have got yours for £400 quid! Price aside, it should give you great flexibility when on your next safari :)

I'm trying not to sound like a snob. I'm no pro at this. I just happen to have opinions, whether they are right or wrong.

Am I on the wrong forum or something? When did it stop being random bollocks to serious photography discussion?

Any criticism of photos, no matter how productive has been met with idiocy. If you don't "love it!!!" apparently you are wrong...so what's the point in criticism?

What? Half my posts in this thread have been telling people why I don't like something. I think I might have agreed with you on one of them.

Deebs - you may be able to improve the image by converting to B&W to compensate for the lack of colour.

Obviously you can't re-shoot these and stuff so even if composition isn't ideal you'd be able to make some kind of improvement.

There's criticism and there's being a bit of a tit though. I'd describe calling someone's photo as "daft" to be in the latter, perhaps that's why you've been met with some poor responses to your comments? It's not hard to phrase correctly and sensibly and still get your point across.

See what I mean?

If you actually engaged your eyes rather then get yourself overly exciting at the prospect of a bit of trolling, you will notice that I didn't call the picture daft. I said the picture was good except for the water, which does at the end of the day, look a bit daft.
Later, I got accused of critising the picture of using too much photshopping, despite only mentioning photoshop as a tool to splice the picture, to improve it by having long exposure on the top half of the scene and normal on the river, which imo would improve the shot greatly.

I don't really understand why I need to explain it again?

I liked this scene but couldn't think of settings to use to capture it properly.. I wish I had used a narrower aperture to really emphasise that it was the single and only "out" sunflower in this mahoosive field.

Yes that's right, I'm trolling my own thread about photos. Good one.

There's no facepalm image on the internet that sufficiently symbolises you right now.

I don't know I was thinking more of the background in focus so people would appreciate just how many of them there were and to make it more special that this one had chosen to pop it's head up.

Quickly passed this through Photoshop and made a black and white cropped version, hope you don't mind. Hard to bring out best due to the similarity of colour of him and the background. Not sure if it's any better though.

caught my son reflecting on the sun setting, think he looks so "grown up" :)

I like this one because I've caught the eagle mid flight, pretty good considering I wasnt paying attention till i saw it out the corner of my eye, but its off centre and I'm not sure how best to tidy it up without making it worse........

Maybe crop the crowd and people above it to isolate it?
