What setup was that taken with? Whatever it is, you will be able to stack a whole load of these with software and bring out detail on the planet.

I'm well aware, but as I said it was a quick and dirty shot as the cloud blew over so I missed the chance to get the correct exposure.

These rocks look shiny. They mostly look shiny because they were wet: the brown and reddy areas in particular were completely sodden. It was a dry day, just a spot where the water held in the ground was slowly trickling through the rocks.

I like these shiny rocks, how about a close up of those lines filling the frame?

Something about this one that bugs me, is it over sharpened? The texture of the rocks, the edge between rock and sea, and the borders of the puddle at the bottom just seem a bit off to me. Maybe it's just the downscaling.

The texture of the rocks is genuinely like that - they're covered with tiny little barnacles and other little bits. When you're there, they're hard and crunchy but slightly sticky. They're great for walking on - good grip.

You're right about the bit between the rock and the sea - I lazily magic wanded the sky/sea area to bring out the highlights a bit more. Was wondering if anyone would notice ;) I can make the blending better here probably.

I hadn't noticed the water around the rocks at the bottom. To me it looks more a result of the light and water combination, but I'll check out the larger images at home. I might be able to improve it either way.

Big G - Crop out the pebbled area? Might be worth a go, I thought about it but realised I'd lose some of the shiny rocks on the left due to the pileup on the right.

Cheers guys!

A few of your shots of that type tend to have something that distracts from the scene, I.e a big boulder in the foreground. The rest of the picture looks great though.

As for the daft comment. It did look daft :)

I hired a Canon EF 100-400mm for the weekend ... waited for 3 hours to take that pic (Canon 450d).

Had a load more of Egrets, Bitterns etc but we had a break-in at the office this week and the bastard nicked my laptop with all my pics on. Gutted, but this one survived because I sent it to my girlfriend via email so it was 'backed up'

why would you pay $4 million for that. Couldnt you just get your lazy ass to Germany and take the same shot if you liked it that much? It's not like the river will have moved in the meantime is it.

Fuck. Where are you guys going for inspiration? Perhaps I need to take Big G's offer up and go visit him and the Loch's to grab some great pictures.

It's marginal. You're marginal. You're bent.

:(

The original was bent the other way. I must have been a bit one eyed when PPing that.

One eyed... Bent... People are going to get the wrong impression. Especially here.
