My biggest and only complaint of the 18MP sensor in the 7D is that there is evident vertical banding noise at low ISO (generally ISO 100). It's not a problem on the vasy majority of shots, however it shows it's ugly head if you need to push the exposure in post processing, particularly in the shadows.

I shoot all my landscapes at ISO 160 as it appears to be much reduced by then.

I like abstract stuff. I need to do more of it. I'm a big fan of lines and shapes in photos.

Where can I see this banding thing? I don't know what I'm looking at :(

... and one more!

A location I've got a few shots of previously, but this one is bathed in a lovely pre-sunset light.

Jupiter and four of it's moons - quick and dirty shot, but the cloud blew over before I could snap another one at full focal length.

These rocks look shiny. They mostly look shiny because they were wet: the brown and reddy areas in particular were completely sodden. It was a dry day, just a spot where the water held in the ground was slowly trickling through the rocks.

And another of basically the same place. I'm not as sure on this one though, seems a bit dull to me.

Some great pics on this thread guys. Can't offer any critiques as its not something I'm expert in, just enjoying seeing the pics :)

You don't need to be an expert to have an opinion here btw :)

What setup was that taken with? Whatever it is, you will be able to stack a whole load of these with software and bring out detail on the planet. I bought a T-ring adapter to hook my body up to my telescope, but there are a couple of issues with it so not had much luck. TBH the best pics I've had have been holding my mobile phone up to the eyepiece :)

Except that if its the wrong opinion you will have your head bitten off.

No, if you phrase criticisms like a prick you might get moaned at a bit, if you word them so you're not just throwing insults at images instead of criticism you'll be fine.

I'll think you'll find you are wrong! :p

There's a big difference between saying things like "I'm not so keen on <so-and-so>" and saying "<so-and-so> looks shit" or "<so-and-so> looks stupid." :)

You have to bear in mind that for some people these are the fruits of their labour, if you treat them with disdain by chucking insults then people are bound to get defensive.

Well I have stopped commenting in this thread because I think people get a bit too touchy when it comes to their photos...even when you are trying to be constructive or trying to get more info

This one looks a bit boring on screen, but I got it printed out onto an enormous canvas and it somehow looks much better.

Not sure what to do with this one either. I like the weird right-curving ghost, the reflections, and the colour difference inside and outside of the rainbow.
However it is a bit dull and grey, and I dunno how to sex it up. Any colour changes I make to it mess with the rainbow colours and look too obvious.

The entrance to a fortified church, you have to walk up through this cave to get in. Thoughts?

Where? I can't see any. The only criticism I see of complaints is when Raven said something was daft.

I'd possibly try making the shadowed areas a little darker?

I actually brightened those bits up a bit for that jpeg, I'll try with them more natural. I wanted to be able to make the door out at the top of the stairs but I guess that's not actually very important in the context of the whole image.
