I have to agree i was unimpressed with most of the fighting, did anyone notice how it wasnt as violent as the first film (for example trinity breaks the mans arm then rams his nose into his head right at the start) in this one they seem preoccupied with knocking them out and incapacitating them.

But i see it for mostly the philosophy there is nothing better then a film that makes your head spin with ideas and theories after, (donnie darko also had this effect on me recently). Go see it with an open mind and dont pay too much attention to the heavily CG'd fight scenes and it is really good. :) well at least imho.

I've been reading lots of theories about the story etc, and thats got my mind spinning. The film itself left me thinking "hmm.. I'm slightly bored". I think there's a lot to the matrix reloaded, a lot of stuff you could find out about but the execution was bad. It didn't inspire me to think, all the discussions about the story did.

So basically it's a good story, but I don't think the film was done that well. I'm going to go watch it again, now I have more ideas about what it's about and I'll see if I like it more.

She kisses Niobe in the Enter The Matrix game.

Man, I picked ghost and she kissed him :|

I assumed that the different characters have different paths within the game, that link up in places. Ála res evil. Guess not.

Why do you think I'm playing Niobe? I'd have picked Ghost any day of the week had I not known in advance about the FMV. :D

I think they do have different paths mainly, its just that one happens to be the same. To be honest, I don't blame the Wacowskis - the dirty pervs.

"Just admitted as much to Numbnutz and came to the conclusion that Xmen2 is designed to be a film in its own right... whereas MatrixR is supposed to be part 2 of a 3 parter...

Cast your mind back to Empire strikes back... was a pants film when watched the first time because you got no closure, but after seeing the third film (or 6th ) then you realised the context of empire and it's relevance increased..."

well sed tbh

Anyone else think that this is getting to be very much like Dante's Seven layers of hell.

1. The Matrix
2. Zion
3. Some weird assed place for old programs
4. Version 2 of the matrix Backup
5. Version 1 of the matrix Backup
6. Programming Construct
7. Big spaceship the machines built because the Earth was actually destroyed in the war

That's what I think it should be anyway. No way for humans to escape properly. It's all about control.

I do think the whole using humans as a power source is a crock.

At least I hope it is, because it's scientifically impossible :|

I've not seen any of it other than last flight of the osiris.

Is it not possible that the events happening in the animatrix can be explained another way?

Yes, as the history that the trapped humans believe to be true.

Being an electronic engineer I don't see why it's impossible.

Pls explain.

I think that this is enough evidence to prove otherwise...

On a less mirthful note, it's because you can't create energy from nothing.

Machines get energy from humans > humans from food (lets say meat) > Animals from vegitation > Vegitation from sun (primarily).

Sun gone = earth dead.

They can't liquify the dead to feed the living because it will rapidly run out, they can't have enough to feed the current living and grow new humans.

Edit: and ffs dam/fonz you made me quite noticably crack up at work :|

I'm sure that by the time the matrix was invented it was quite possible to synthesise enough protein to feed the humans.

This would not be overly difficult.

Aye, if humans have the technology to build hovercraft and design EMP's, and assuming the machines have far superior technology, surely they would have found a way around a lack of food. If you've seen Rennaisance Pt.2, you see the machines performing unethical experiments on people, and as a result maybe-found a way to maintain the body for an extended period of time. Also note that the bodies in the fields are motionless, thus requiring less energy ( OOH! less body heat?).

Hopefully this is addressed in Revolutions.

It's still scientifically impossible.

Human beings generate energy because of what's fed to them. They would only be able to create food from whatever was still on the planet. I.e. a very short sighted solution. Since nothing new would grow on the planet, they'd be required to use whatever was still there. Then, surely it'd be a lot less hassle to just use that for energy, rather than creating humans, then feeding them, then getting the electricity from them. Especially as that gives the added hassle of having to create and govern this dream world. As I read on IMDB, why not just breed elephants then. They're likey to generate more energy, and aren't about to form a revolution..

The whole thing just doesn't work tbh, anyone that did GCSE physics could tell you that.

edit: And another thing..wait, never mind :\

I'm sure the audience's emotional connection with an elephant endowed with superpowers would've been far lesser.

;)

You'd be hard pushed to find someone who did GSCE Physics I reckon, so any opinion they may or may not have would largely be invalidated by them doing a made-up course!

:p
