Got a mate who spooges over all things Alien and the trailer hit the right notes, sort of.

I guess I'm jaded and old!
Count me in as one of them who jisms over anything to do with the Alien Universe.

I saw Alien when I was around 11 years old with my Mum at a friend's house across the road. We left around 11pm and I still remember both Mum and me gripping each other like we were about to fall off a cliff and scampered back over the road to our house, got in and immediately locked all the doors and turned on every light we could find.

Dad being Dad could not understand how we could be so scared after watching a film on the TV as it is not real, bless him.

So despite some favourable reviews, it appears according to IMDB and most people who've seen it, the new remake of Road House is actually garbage and not worth the effort.

Anyone surprised about this?

I watched it last night, was on my lappy at the same time, just didn't touch the original imo. The baddy was a fucking comedian and the fight scenes were like something out of that shitty American wrestling thing (even worse than ours but at least we had Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks).

Suspected so - there should be a rule in Hollywood, all remakes should be killed with fire before they get out of the production meeting.

PS I don't consider Dune a remake, more of a reinterpretation of a book, with less weird.

Does (s)he rate it @Overdriven?

Honestly not asked - I only knew it was coming out because of a LinkedIn message where he announced that he worked on it. (He also did Expendables 4) - It's probably not going to be rated by him as it's not his choice of style, but work is work innit.

Expendables 4 was an abomination. :(

(the colouring looked fine though, he stayed within the lines and everything)

I like Deadpool, its a nice change from the other hero movies people are just burned out on, the vulgarity and dark humour of Deadpool is what keeps it fresh.

Monkey Man. Enjoyably John Wick-esque (even making a JW joke at one point). Dev Patel seems like the most unlikely action hero you could imagine, but he makes it work. Confirms many of my prejudices about India, which is less good I suppose.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Take the "based on a true story" bit with an ocean's worth of salt; this is not a "historic" WW2 movie and there are some teeth grinding bits of nonsense, but it is fun to watch with an Inglorious Basterds sensibility, which is to be expected from Guy Ritchie. The weird thing is the real story of these characters and events would have been at least as exciting and probably a better movie if played straight with the right director

Agree with both of those. I didn't enjoy Monkey Man as much as I thought/hoped I would based on the trailer but I suppose that's the nature of trailers. There was more downtime between the fights than John Wick (with lashings of social commentary) but those fight scenes were very well-done.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare was grand. Pretty standard Guy Ritchie stuff, I saw afterwards that it's not just based on the true story of Operation Postmaster, it's a "heavily fictionalised version" of it. Having only seen Alan Ritchson in Reacher and a Black Mirror episode, he was pretty wild in this.

The Fall Guy - 6/10. (7/10 for Emily Blunt being in it)

Saw it last night. I think the trailer is very misleading as to what the film is about. It's okay, entertaining enough for around 2 hours, but very much a one and done. Won't win best movie of the year or the worst.

There's a mid-trailers scene btw. So hang around. Only one though.

Best thing about the Fall Guy was Heather Thomas in that bikini.

Rise of the Footsoldier: Vengeance.

Actually, and hear me out, not at all bad.
