I don't know what that is.

But I am happy the leader of the opposition is a raving loon that is dividing the scum (labour) and is on course to making labour a laughing stock for a generation.

He is dividing labour but not becoming a laughing stock, support for him is actually growing it feels to me. Im not sure if it will make a difference as the party seems set to implode but the general public are starting to support him and turn their backs on the Conservatives, atleast those i have seen or spoken to.

Another blow to Cameron as more and more people are talking about how he made cuts to flood defence funds in 2011 yet still spends near to 300 million in foreign aid atleast.

Spending on foreign aid has absolutely no relevance to flood defences.

No but that doesnt stop the media or atleast social media sites making the connection and the masses running with the story

The masses in this instance being you @Talivar.

Here's an idea that'll delight the Tories - make people who've been dumb enough to buy houses where it floods responsible for construction of their own flood defences. That'll save government budget for the NHS.

And to ensure government takes responsibility where it should - it should legislate to ensure construction companies cannot build on flood plains, rather than greenlight building projects there...

I'm amazed by the outrage at someone pointing out "maybe we should accept floods are inevitable and design houses to cope". It seems like a no-brainier to me. When we were looking at houses to buy last year my missus kept looking at me like I'd grown two heads when we were looking at houses next to the sea and I suggested we keep money back for flood-proofing.

Even now large parts of Dublin are under threat and yet people are bitching about Dublin council building flood walls because it "ruins the view". Most people are idiots.

Its not even confined to just flooding, so many people move to block anything that they think ruins the view or atmosphere, no matter how beneficial it is to the area and people.

No amount of money could have prevented the flooding we're seeing at the moment. Suggesting any cuts made in 2011 have made any difference to this is just a bit dippy.

Well to say no amount of money would help is more Dippy as im pretty sure with enough cash you could create Dams or Massive Sea Wall style structures and other defenses. The real argument would be just how much would it cost and would the negatives out weight the positives

It always makes me laugh when the cunts in the new build shit hole a few miles away get flooded. When they announced they were going to build it my granddad said it would flood every few years...and it does. Idiots.

Always check the history of a new build site, if its flooded before then it will flood again.

That's because the people who post this rubbish on Facebook are idiots. "OMG IT'S FLOODED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 80 YEARS, BETTER STOP SENDING MONEY TO INDIA!"

If you want to reduce this type of flooding a very cheap and effective way is to line rivers, streams, brooks et al with masses of trees (I mean fields full of them, not French road tree lining). Doing that would also reduce soil runoff from fields. But how many farmers would agree?

Thats the problem you face, too many people put their own interests before that of the community

Putting non-crop vegetation in and around fields stops your subsidies under the CAP.

You simply can't spend enough money to stop once in a century events. Not if you want to have an NHS, a Police Force and roads. Even if you did, there's always the once in 200 year event.
