"The First Line of Defense" -- The Official SS Movie!

[Belomar]

After having seen a few of the DAoC movies out there, all of them with varying quality, I decided to continue my self-appointed position as realm chronicler by trading in my paper and quill for a screen recorder and a video editing software suite. My first decent result is "The First Line of Defense", an SS promotional movie giving an introduction to our guild. The movie is 28 megs, spans 3 minutes, and is compressed using DivX (so if you don't have the codec, head over to http://www.divx.com to get it). You can download the actual movie from here:

Disclaimer: This is in no way a "gank movie" showing SS pwning on the battlefield (even if there are such elements in there), so please spare me from any comments along those lines. I've collected footage to get the most effect from the pictures, nothing more. The gank movies will follow.

Well, I did say something about this being a promotional movie, now, didn't I? I chose the footage to fit the theme of the movie, and taking a keep actually amounts to more of an "on-screen" accomplishment than ganking an enemy FG.

didnt really like the video :/ was too Alada-wannabe without beint long enough or without a story/humour.. the text scrolling across the screen with Perseverence etc at the end looked silly. Song needed to fit the pictures better too.

At the end of the movie, it should be dedicated to the memory of someone. And some nice fade/transition effects. More chars doing the /cry emote! And I want ZOOMING CAMERAS all over Camelot!

Maybe change the music to "Celine Dion - Panpipe Moods" and have Belomar being hugged from behind on that sunken ship in the river behind Prydwen Keep.

Could download it very fast and the movie is simply beautiful. Nice 'camera'-work and great showing off how DAOC is

Yeah it's no 'OMG we owned those Middies' but we've seen enough of that. This one makes a welcome change!
