Haven't watched it yet but I wish someone would tell Hamilton to take his bloody hat off in other country's national anthems.

Sponsor commitment.

This.

My missus has been saying this to me a lot lately -"why do these F1 drivers never take their hats off?" and / or "why do golfers always have their hats on in adverts or indoor interviews" and I always say "because it'll be a contractual obligation to the sponsors".

An ex-mate of mine used to work for Nike, Tiger was only allowed to wear is "TW" branded cap on the final day of a major tournament with "Nike only" stuff the rest of the time. Not sure how much truth there is in that, but sounds about right.

It's sort of the same in the real world, in certain areas if you don't wear your branded clothes you get beaten up.

It remains really ironic talking about making the F1 racing better while being at the Monaco GP.

Monaco actually has a really quick pit lane and a slow lap; it should have been fine, but the swapping of the "virtual" safety car for the real thing halfway through the lap has obviously screwed up the calculation. Having said that, I don't really understand why they pitted him at all.

That's what I couldn't understand at the time. It's not like he'd been on the tyres for 50 laps and they were dying on him. He could *easily* have made it to the end of the race with what he had, especially as overtaking is nigh-on impossible so with a bit of defensive driving he could've secured the win. It's just a giant clusterfuck on Mercedes' part. They've gone from a nailed-on 1-2 to a rather laughable 1-3 because of one bad decision.

Sidenote: Juan Pablo Montoya came from last place to win the Indy 500, was a good race and a great drive.

Good race, Rosberg is done though.
...or not :)
Think Hamilton will be spitting his dummy. What's all this "team leader" shit he's spouting? Think Lauda and Rosberg might have something to say about that. When Hamilton pitted I LOLed hard, team must have forgotten the Senna/Mansell race.

Another sidenote: Went to the Indy 500 a few years ago, epic, just fucking epic. Archetypal American day out though y'all...

I think Hamilton will be fine tbh. Rosberg has to know he was a good 20 seconds off the pace and won it not by performance but by sheer luck (or a fuck up on the other side of the garage). He was handed an opportunity on a platter and he took it, he didn't *deserve* to win that race based on performance.

Seb with a 5 place penalty for passing under reds during practice.

Back of the field is going to be fun tomorrow, Seb, Verstappen and Massa all at the back.

It looks like Button and Alonso will both have penalties of at least 25 places for changing engines and other bits.

Yeah - but with Alonso out there wasn't any point wasting mileage on Button's car as they had no comparison data of use... what I am pleased about is that McLaren and Honda are staying tight together (so far) - when they do get it right I think they will get it very right indeed.

If the penalties keep stacking he will be able to get out of the car and eat lunch during the race.

Was like the lotus one from last year. What gives them the winning edge or something. Some computer system thing. Hehe
