Nothing makes for a entertaining Grand Prix like seeing both Red Bulls go out of the race. Perhaps it's karma for being such big girls and trying to keep the SC out for far longer than was necessary after the second start.

I was up at 6, watched it all and loved it. Especially liked Brundles calling of Vettel saying its too dark and then Vettels car deciding it agreed and took him out the race.

He talked about lots of people. Mind you none of them were onscreen when he was talking about them or doing anything he was claiming they were.

luck? I don't understand what was lucky about it. f1 is a team sport, it's not just about the driver. The car was not up to it and conked out, that's not luck for Alonso, it's a failure of Red Bull.

As for the title this year? Yes, Red Bull should win, and it should be with Weber as he can actually complete a race without trying to drive through someone. My feeling is though that they will run out of engines and haven't been the epitome of reliability either, that's why Lewis is my pick. I think Button will do a far better rear gunner job than Vettel too. I am fully expecting it to go down to the last race with 3 drivers from 3 teams still in with a chance. Bernie wouldn't have it any other way.

We're still on!

Ferrari has certainly seen a good turn around to a car that wasn't exactly that good.

In fairness to Alonso, he is driving the wheels off that thing right now... very solid performance.

The only bit that wasn't down to luck was overtaking Hamilton after he gayed it into the first corner after the safety car went in. :) If it hadn't been for Redbull's various failures he would've finished 3rd.

Championship between 4 now?

But in agreement with Jup, I will say he is driving very well. He has gone from not even being a contender not so many races ago to being in with a real shot of the title.

He was still lucky in Korea though. :D

oh wow, i didn't mean alonso is a bad driver or anything. Indeed he is driving very good. I just thought Vettel was the best today untill his engine exploded.

It'll be interesting to see who uses which engine over the last 2 races. All the contenders were on their 8th and final engine for Korea, but they can obviously use one that they swapped out earlier in the year if they want to avoid the 10 place grid penalty that using a 9th will bring.

Vettel's of course is the only one of the 8th engines which ended up in bits on the racetrack, so he definitely has a choice to make.

The fact that Vettel's let go in Korea does show that they're not designed for anything other than full on use... it was spectacular though... bits flying everywhere :)

I don't think any of the contenders (and I'm ruling Button out now, really) can in any way afford an engine swapout now - it'll be interesting to see if they hold up.

But used engines doesnt mean they are useless engines, as Ferrari have proven.

Im sure RB have plenty of used engines in perfect conditions. Im guessing its more a problem of the design itself (Renault have apologised already for the Corea DNF): Ferrari engines are simply more reliable.

The WDC is hoter than ever. By no means ALO is the favourite. Sure he is in a strong form now, but its just 11 points to WEB and a few more to HAM / VET, one result away from the podium mixed with a victory of any of the above (lets be honest, the next 2 races will be won by either of the 4) will mean another swap in the championship lead.

The only advantage ALO has over the RB pair is that they will be also "racing each other" (where did i hear this one before? :p ) while ALO and HAM will have sidekicks on their team.

Actually the Ferrari engine is the least reliable in the championship this year with a 6.8% failure rate and Massa already having used a 9th for three races I imagine he'll probably be using a 10th for the last 2. If he had decent spares in the bag, why would he already have used a 9th? Renault has a 4.4% failure rate and Mercedes just 2.9%.

Alonso and Hamilton definitely have an advantage as they can have rear gunners, but there's a good chance Massa is going to be getting a 10 place drop for a new engine, see above. I can't see Vettel settling for backing Mark up any time soon.

Well done the Hulk tbh, should be a very interesting start - let's see how they all get away with an unfamiliar face at the front.

Was it Massa that held Hamilton up on that last corner?

*shake conspiracy first* ;)

(I don't know that it was, I only saw it once and heard Lewis say he was held up.)

Button is also glad of other good drivers after being chased by a gang of thugs armed with machine guns - his police chauffeur drove him away safely. Not the first time and not the last it'll happen :/

I read that too Kryt - can't have been pleasent at all, and apparently similar incidents have been known in the past.

Regards the quali, quite eventful and fun to watch, I thought. Changing conditions livened it up and we have a bit of a topsy turvy grid with the Hulk in front... I wonder how this will play out.

Button was simply dreadful though, I thought :(
