Can't wait for F1 2010 :D

BTW, was at Silverstone this weekend (as I hope some of you lot were) for the Renault World Series. Cracking weekend, and the new pit/paddock complex looks absolutely fucking stunning, even in it's half completed state. Can't wait to see the final thing, will bring Silverstone right up with the modern circuits.

Expecting F1 2010 to turn up tomorrow or Friday now, can't wait. What platform will you lot be playing it on? I gave up on PC's when I fell behind the constant upgrade battle about 5 years ago, so for me it's xbox360.

Bah, I thought that would be the case. The last decent PC I specced was to optimise Battlefield 1942 for clan games with clan green. Anyway, one more sleep to go.

For those that haven't seen it - interesting read here at EG. It's an interview with the Senior Producer and Lead Designer of F1 2010 at Codies.

In a nutshell, they talk a bit about the lacklustre 'Live the Life' side of the game and improvements they are planning for F1 2011. I'm reading good things about this game, EG gave it 8/10 (although read like 9/10).

Sounds very much like the racing element of the game is superb, but they didn't quite have enough time to fit in everything they wanted to around the career/media/'Live the Life' side of things. Can't wait, hope this does well because now they've got the base platform/engine in place it should hopefully only improve going forward.

So quali wasn't quite the "Redbull show" that some were predicting. Webber is now on his 7th engine, and who knows, Massa might be on his 9th quite soon. Webber, Vettel, Hamilton and Button all on 7 engines (although Webber's is obviously fresher).

Ted Kravitz was talking about Ferrari's plan for the rest of the season, to use engines 7 and 8 for 4 races each. That could all be out the window for Massa although his problem wasn't confirmed as engine (yet).

Anyone played F1 2010 yet??

What was that about Hamilton being an amazing overtaker?

That incident was entirely down to Webber and his refusal to yield a clearly lost place.

You're both wrong... Yes, Hamilton can be a great overtaker and committed driver, but the incident wasn't all on Webber, 50/50 situation today and LH lost out.

I'm sorry but it wasn't. Webber attempted to force his way through the inside in a far too aggressive move instead of doing what he should have done which was brake and take the corner properly. Webber has done the same thing numerous times this season and ended up collecting his car on someone else due to refusal to use his brakes on more than one occasion.

Yep, one of those things, 50:50, normally the guy who gets his front wheel whacked loses out, but there you go.

Setting up for a great end to the season.

On another note, I'm loving F1 2010, despite a couple of bugs, nothing is a gamebreaker for me and I'll be loading it up as soon as the daughter is asleep again tonight :D

Racing incident, completely understandable however from the on-board shots that both one would assume the other was to blame.

What a fantatic race though. Just bought f1 2010 on steam (54% done!) for me birthday and my friend is going to lend me his Logitech G27 for the week. Good times ahead! :D

Im loving it too mate, have a wheel which Royal Mail should be delivering to me tommorow so I can stop using the 360 controller. How are you getting along, I am about 6 races into the season and its been mixed for me, some races I over perform some I'm miles off the pace. Monaco was a nightmare! Heavy rain all race, couldnt see never mind turn corners!

I've done the first 3 weekends, and best race finish is 17th, having qualified my Lotus in 5th at Malaysia.

I'm probably going to start from scratch again tonight though, now I have got to grips with everything as I think I can do a lot better.

What difficulty level are you running it on? Running medium I jumped in a Williams qualified on pole at Bahrain by 2 seconds and won the race despite having a 10 second penalty - I've not had chance to race again with better settings.

This is on the 360 with control pads - might need to get a wheel at some point

Fucking odd game tbh - in Legend I qualified 4th and won the race at Bahrain.
Needs fixing.

Fuck LoL! :D

Hammy fanboy much Krazeh? Apart from the fact that everyone could see it was a run-of-the-mill racing incident, ex-F1 drivers said it was a racing incident, Hamilton himself was non-comittal and the stewards enquriry went "no foul" you're pretty clear that it was "entirely" Webber there!

If kinty-mc-c*ntass tried to throw his car round the outside of me on a bend there's no way I'd break when I had the apex. He could fuck off around his longer "outside line" that he elected to take.

Hamilton wanted to cut into the corner, Webber was there and had no earthly reason to give way - it was Hamilton's job to go round the outside correctly.

He gayed it. Simple as :)

He did gay it - it's not his fault, it's not Webber's fault. If anything, the Virgin driver could've been a lot more prompt about letting them both past but it's not really his fault either.

Well, it is his fault. He attempted an overtake that didn't come off.

But it's nothing to beat him over the head with. We want 'em to drive like that. Shit happens :)

Bahrain is a wierd race mate, the AI bugger up the middle section so you are usually lapping a second or two faster than they are there. Keep going through Melbourne, Malaysia and China and it gets a whole lot tougher. Actually its as if they give you Bahrain as a freebie then make you suffer in places like Malaysia.

Currently playing it with all the aids (minus racing line/pit entry) off and the difficulty on the 2nd to highest in the lotus and finding it an absolute blast. A steering wheel really does make a whole load of difference and my word is tyre wear brutal when its on. Finished 16th in Bahrain after using the options for 8 laps and compeltely destroying them. 6th in Australia (A track I actually know!) and qualified 8th for malaysia although work meant I had to go to sleep at that point. :(

Think I'll go about customizing the buttons tonight so I can do things a little easier. Changing tyres using the d-pad on the stick shift box is a pain in the arse mid-race although it's nice to be able to use engine/wing/tyre management during the race.

9/10 for me due to a couple of issues which really, don't detract too much from the game and the more I learn, the more I'm finding ways around them anyway. :D

Someone told me that in F1 2010, the AI doesn't actually drive on the track unless you're near them, so their lap times are just simulated, and you can end up overtaking someone while doing a slower lap than they did, wtf?

Thats partially true, the lead game designer said that they couldnt implement timing the AI on practice and quali so they had to leave it out, during the race the cars are there and they do fight hard for there place.

finished 6th in Malaysia, qualified and finished 8th and 7th respectively in Shanghai, now onto Catalunya where I qualified 22nd... what a brutal end to the lap that is. Even with the wheel, I'm struggling to get traction exitting the final corner, it's absolutely evil... :D

Wheel arrived today so I've ramped the difficulty up and started a 5 years career. Starting at Sauber and just finished Bahrain, qualified 10th finished 10th, would and should have been alot higher but I span after trying a suicidal overtake.

Generally it's excellent, I sooooo do need a wheel though, I'm using a Logitech Cordless Rumplepad 2 right now and I'm doing ok, I just remember how much better i was at GP4 with a decent wheel. :)

The punishments in Time Trial (especially "Invalidated Next Lap") are a bit harsh (or non-sensical). I fail to see how spinning on the way out of Piscine at Monaco could possibly give me an advantage on the next lap. :S

But on a more "ooh isn't it pretty" note, how good is the rain?? I haven't really experienced the dynamic weather yet, I want to get to a certain level before I embark on a proper season.

*must buy wheel*
