Driving experience day in a car of choice :D (will do single seater or 360 Modena F1)

Grats!

I'm such a fat bastard they'd have to put in me a Ford Sierra, I'd never fit in a single seater...

fuck all this mumbo jumbo green shit. At the end of the day it's motor racing, it's not there to save the world :) Bring back the days of the proper turbo engines xD

From the sound of it, that's what you're going to get, 1.6 turbos with 750bhp. In the turbo era it was 1.5 turbos with about 700. The only thing missing is the "bomb" qualifying engines. This actually makes a lot of sense, almost every high performance road car will have to have to turbos to pass emissions regs in the next 2-5 years (its already starting, look at the next BMW M5), so this reflects that.

Off-topic but Rossi on a Ducati next year is going to be interesting, the bike has the raw power to dominate and if Rossi/Burgess can work thier magic on the handling they could overpower the rest next season.

The turbo 1.6's has been known for the last few months - at least now it's confirmed what exactly they're going to do. I'm looking forward to it, personally.

And as far as the unsuccessfully mugged Ecclestone goes, if one team gets an advantage, the others should just bloody well catch up - that's the idea!

I do believe that the MP4/4 was 1.6 engine but had 1200bhp.

1.5, but the 1200bhp was only in qualifying mode (and then only for brief periods; it was normally about 850-900); the "bomb" engines I refered to earlier. In race trim it was a fair bit less (650-700). The BMW 4 cyl engine in the Brabhams was actually the most powerful of the breed.

Totally agree. I mean, let's look at this season. Three new teams started the season, if everything is "even" now, they should have been in with as good a chance as the existing ones. Which teams were at the bottom of the table in every way, qualifying, race and standings? The new ones, of course. Which team was tearing ahead at the start of the season? Red Bull. Last season? Brawn. It's not like they don't already get teams having advantages, so what difference is it going to make?

Meh I preferred Legard. Something about Brundle in the commentary box just rubbed me the wrong way.

Yeah all the knowledge and good information, it was terrible. The uninformed stupidity of Legarde will be missed.

And, another wish come true:

FOM confirms HD coverage for 2011

It's been rumoured for a while, but nice to get final confirmation.

In summary, broadcast in 1080i - downscaled for non-HD channels. On-board car cameras are unfortunately going to be upscaled due to "technical complexity".

Sorry, think I've just crawled out of my cave and read all these posts.

How utterly brilliant.
Used to go in a hospitality unit in a previous incarnation, made such a difference. Wow. Will expect to hear all about it!

P.S. Did anyone else really like 'Just Drive' at the end of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix?

Perthnow.com.au said:
The F1 supremo's outburst comes after a report in The Sunday Times last week spruiked Perth's credentials as a host city, with the Swan River foreshore a perfect backdrop to showcase the city and the event.

"Spruiked"? What the fuck is "spruiked"?
