Ah and they fixed the bugged quest I had (when you follow the trail to find the assassin who poisoned someone).

um
1 per level
1 per dungeon (x3)
1/3 X number of Soul Shards you find
1 from each quest that gives you one.. think i got about 5 ?

you also get 1 point / "realm rank"

so been playing a little in the beta and i really enjoy it

though it would be nice not to have to deal with the 12 year olds spamming about penises all the time in zone chat but at least that can be turned off :p

a lot of it feels like it would have made a really nice massive single player RPG though

Got to level 9 on the first night, liked it so far but not really massively blown away. Leveling seems overly slow and I feel very weak as a caster, looking forward to trying some PvP out today when I get over lvl10. My most major concern for the game is that in PvP you're not going to be able to target who you want 100% of the time with your spells due to the wishy washy targeting. We'll see I guess. :)

I was grouped with a bunch of people for AvA last night. It was unplayable. 30 seconds+ of lag, many times being kicked out of the game completely. Extremely frustrating. If you mention this around fanbois you just get the stock "Its BETA!" response. This close to launch though they really need to fix this shit. If its like this come launch day its unlikely I'll sub past the first month. If there were artificial conditions causing the problems last night then ok, I'm annoyed but I can live with it.

Our entire team just gave up in the end and went off to do other things. I popped into Neverwinter for a while.

i noticed a fair amount , only hope/theory is its the un-optimized one, were already a massive version behind "real" beta that has the NPC collision etc in, so
will see

Lag was unplayable earlier, changed to a slightly less pop'ed server and then it was fine. Had quite some fun PvP'ing, will be roaming again tonight.

Best thing so far - MILEGATES:

It actually looks, from watching a stream, crap.

Just like GW2.

I was in the alpha for GW2 and it was never gonna be anything but shit. This is much more promising so far. Should at least provide some distraction until CU. :)

So far I think it's ok. It's not quite daoc, but far better than GW2...

When watching videos it looks like a spam-fest like GW2 and most other action games nowadays, but when playing it doesn't seem like that. Like eksdee said I think it might be decent enough to last until Camelot Unchained. So far I've only played with pugs but it seems roaming groups are completely viable, and the healing is quite effective.

eksdee there are some bridge that look a lot like the old daoc bridges too :p

Does anyone know if there are any respec shrines available in this beta? The only one I've been able to find so far (Daggerfall) is in a zone we can't access in beta :/

Had some nice fights tonight, but the lag is maddening when you cast a spell on someone and it casts 3s later... on someone else. They're really going to have to improve that if it's to work on retail, but given this is a huge stress test I'd hope they'll put it right.

Tried again to AvA in a less crowded one this afternoon. Lag lag lag die. Team just bailed in frustration.

Tried early evening myself to check it out, again not in a full instance. Lag lag lag die.

Shambolic.

Awh. We probably aren't playing on release code you know. And they are stress testing pvp to see what the bottle necks are. Everyone compares games against daoc four or five years after launch. I remember slide show lag in a lot of rvr especially with thane aoe hammers. They were always cussed for using them. And relic raid. Everyone look at the ground was a common occurrence.

PvP'ed all night with barely any lag except for when we encountered massive blobs of players. It was fun, but one thing that I find absolutely awful is everyone being able to stealth. It's a really bad mechanic for PvP imo.

Felt exactly the same, decided to roll a second character chose a dark elf assassin type using a bow - wow what a difference levelling, so much easier than a caster. Problem is I am at lvl 6 and fucked because a quest bug means I cannot get off the island and progress. Given up and now playing Hawken instead. Reran the quest 3 times and about 10 other people in the area having same problem.

Been fucked over a few times by people who literally sit in stealth on the road and wait for other people. 10+ people just sat there earlier, no way you can fight that when they just pop up in your face. Really, really needs addressing imo because otherwise the PvP has a lot of promise. :(

OK so second char is now completely stuck on an island due to failed quest, complete load of bolx. loads of people with the same issue. cant even swim back to the mainland as you eaten by fish in the sea when out of the island map. If this releases in this state next month I it will be shit.

I don't see why though - surely all these MMOs have more than enough experience to get a decent enough servers and such to run the game rather than pissing off people in an open beta?

Appearently we were playing the same build this weekend that was used in the last beta test in early february.

The new build that I linked the patchnotes for above is only applied to the closed beta test server. The next beta weekend will use a newer build though, as seen here:

I too ran into all sorts of bugged out quests this weekend, leading to my just giving up on it last night. I do wonder why they didn't want to put that updated build on the open beta this weekend, some even worse optimisation for the AvA ?

Yeah i really hate that idea also even though i done it a few times to get my revenge....but i think a sorc has a see stealth skill/spell which might see hidden also. Hiding should drain stamina and once it's drained you pop out of stealth mode and you can only re stealth when your at 100%...that's the only way i can think of balancing it.

nope tried looking through all the skills and i can't find what i thought i saw, i must of been dreaming or something.

Nope found it...Magelight in the mages guild skills:

  • Cast Time: Instant / Self
  • Cost: 48 Magicka
  • Summon a light that reveals hidden and invisible enemies within 12 meters.
  • -5% maximum magicka.
  • +7% spell critical strike rating.
  • Morphs
    • Inner Light: Adds spell critical strike.
    • Radiant Magelight: Nearby friendly targets take less damage from stealth attacks.
its a toggle skill

Yep, but within 12 meters still poses many of the same issues - although it will be helpful none the less. It's just absurd that we were inc'ing equal numbers or inc'ing with them having a numbers advantage and the enemies would, to a man, stealth up and then just jump our healer. Absolutely gamebreaking. Magelight would combat a good amount of that though for sure, I'm just not sure it's enough.

I would guess that stealthing could be useful when running a small man in RvR, as you could hide from a zerg that's too large to handle? Afaik there's no speed abilities like in DAoC, so having a way to effectively dodge zergs would be very welcome IMO. Unless the entire zerg hides too ofc. :p
