Bargain. :\

Just think this is a slippery slope, that's all. Subs and a cash shop? I'm not saying that by supporting this game you are contributing to the death of PC gaming, but by supporting this game you are contributing to the death of PC gaming.

nope
thats the RRP on the main site, buy it elsewhere its "normal" price not hard ot find it at 20% or more off (GMG has it at 25% off)

the ONLY confirmed thing so far on the "cash shop" is the "upgrade your ordinary one to a 'CE' for £15" which was also in swtor /shrug

Played a bit this morning before work and seemed better, still not immersed by it though. Combat still feels too simple for an MMO and lacks the pace of encounters in games such as Neverwinter. At least that's my impression playing a Dark Magic Sorc. Quests have been OK although I did run into the Mistral follow the invisible trail to an assassin lol. Looked it up on the forum after about 20 mins of running around and a relog fixed it.

Trying to login now for a quick play before sleep and it's saying 1h30m queue! :(

i got in rvr on friday, was fucking mental, in a good way
loading times go up with server load and "time since last restart", it can be almost instant, some times its 10+ mins

rvr zone keeps crashing aswell think its down again atm :(

however, siege works wonders, very shiny, trebs etc.. keeps have auto repair function, guards regen + level up etc based on supply from outlying camps near walls, lumbermill, farm, + something else, so you can take those and siege it without having to bang face against wall etc

Still not got into RvR.

How big is the zone? Are we talking DAoC-frontiers or GW2 size?

it might or might not...
contain 2 "elder scrolls" *cough* relic keeps, 2 "portal keeps"
7 keeps / faction, couple of Outposts.. mini-keep-lets
farm, mine, lumbercamp per keep
and the imperial city, i presume, in the middle
you can port between the keeps/entrance areas
you can port OUT TO but not OUT FROM outposts

the keeps may or may not be connected by lines of supply/whatever/fish that means you cant just go and cap the ones at the back
keeps with their supply nodes intact might possibly auto upgrade over time

i certainly dont have any pics of the keep sizes, map etc, and certainly wouldnt share them with anyone :O

siege is used via quick slots, activate, gives you a groundtarget
you can re-pack it aswell as long as its loaded, ie you cant go place-fire-move, you ahve to place-fire-waitforreload-move

also you can torch enemy stuff so if u overrun their trebs you can burn it, dies quite fast, rather than melee it down etc

Saw a video on YouTube of a huge Zerg, it looked a little bit chaotic (in a bad gw2 sorta way), but at the same time did look a lot of fun.

Was hoping that it would be more dynamic but I guess they need to keep it console friendly and simple. It looks great, love the open world and look of the game. Just the combat system is not really doing it for me. To be fair neither did Skyrim's. Will have to try the RvR, may change my mind completely :)

Were they shouting "FOR ARRRFFFFUUURRR" and chasing a solo troll, I miss those days ;)

where we to with NDA btw ? assume it was a press-only lift ?

Last I checked NDA was still in effect. I'm interested to see if it gets lifted for the next beta. If they keep it locked down until too close to launch that will send the wrong kind of signal to gaming communities. The expectation is for open beta try-before-you-buy and if they keep it too tightly under lid then it might be perceived as being a bit shoddy and that they're afraid of negative press.

We're what, 8 weeks from live launch?

That's not a lot of time remaining to them to up the schedule to deal with any issues that have shown up in the beta tests and then perform more stress testing.

Its nothing like Skyrim combat. You shoot an arrow into the ground in Skyrim nothing happens unless its near to the mob/npc/whatever. Shoot an arrow into the ground in TESO and it seems to count it as a miss and agros pretty much everything in clip range. Other than that it just feels clunky, is it autoaim or isn't it...homing arrows? Did I hit the mob...no idea.

With some work it will hopefully be fine but from early impressions its no good.

problem is you cant have a proper projectile 3d system , too server intensive, so its done by mechanics then animated as i understand it

So what, this game is £60, £80 for the deluxe edition that if you don't pre-order you don't get access to a main race, £9.00 a month in subs AND they have a cash store? Am I missing something? I've not heard really many good things about this game but doesn't the above just take the piss?

it's £29.99 here.

Well, played a dark magic caster up to lvl 10 still found the combat too simplistic and not varied enough. hit 1 key wait for mana hit 1 key and left mouse to finish if required. Will have to get a lot better at later levels. Does the skills bar grow beyond the 1-5 plus R at later levels?

Things I hate:
1. No numbers for hits - you have no idea what base damage + variance your doing so no idea which spells are more effective against certain mobs - trial and error
2. Pet or quest companion health bar - no idea how close to death they are
3. Loading screens between instances take far too long when server is busy

Understand this is beta but launches in under 3 months so doubt too much will get fixed apart from the odd broken quest and possibly the server load issues.

interrupting mobs becomes much more important as you get higher, not only to stop them doing things but if you knock them down following an interrupt they take a lot more damage.
pressing 1 key and waiting for mana ? id love to see that spell.. i only use 1 pot/boss fight in the 12-15 dungeons as a healer so /shrug (im lvl 14)
varied combat - you are limited to : 1-2-3-4-5-R, and a second set for weapon swap at 15. what you put in those slots dictates how "exciting" it is i suppose - have you tried other trees? i think most people mix and match - i use Class Healing and Resto Staff mix for groups. I use those + Aedric spear for soloing, plenty to "do".
pets, not used them, but people complain about them being an extension of your dps and only assisting rather than being controllable, /shrug, not my area :)

bear in mind, you get a skill point/3 Skyshards you find - theres at least 300 shards, so 100 skill points total available - and respec will be in the release, so dont worry about doing 1point/lvl in your main tree etc, branch out a bit and experiment

Dark magic first spell you get took 75% of my mana bar I had spec'd it so that a second cast would be 50% less mana and chance to insta cast. Still lame that 1 spell which did anything from 20-50% of a mobs health cost that much mana.

may improve variety with the weapon swap.

I thought it best to specialise so I got the max from 1 line as a test. Ice and Dark Magic.

Found about 5 Skyshards but was more interested in exploring as much of the world as I could. I would have gotten further but for spending too much time on 3 broken quests. But spending 30 mins to get a done then not being able to finish it was a tad frustrating but expected in a BETA. Overall the game has something to offer. Combat wise I still think it is on the boring side. Does not have the frenetic pace of Neverwinter / DAOC / TERA / AOC / WAR / WOW or any other MMO I've played.

I will try it again and get to a decent level, hopefully get a decent guild and leveling parties to make it more fun.

is that spell a flat % or just high cost ?
gets more frenetic , especially in dungeons , where you are pulling 5-8 mobs and you have 2 healers, 2 casters, some melee, most of them throwing out the red cone of death, it depends a lot on movement and awareness, tanking isnt just "taunt and stand there", -everyone- has to be paying attention and get out of the fire

If I remember the base mana usage was 78. In the last hour of play I got a ring from a quest that gave me more mana pool and that made things much better but for first 8 lvls I could only use the spell once then wait 3-4 secs or one to two left mouse (ice staff) attacks.

Sounds like it does get better at later levels and grouping in Dungeons sounds fun.

I hate this as well, and it seems to be a trend in games these days to hide the numbers. Then again, it's an Elder Scrolls game, and those have never shown damage numbers. I'm pretty sure this is going to change though, wouldn't be surprised to see a combat log popping up sooner or later.

Got into RvR briefly last night and saw my first siege. It looked amazing. I haven't had enough time to make a proper judgement of the game mechanics but I can't wait to do more.

I was invited to play over the weekend but chose not to bother. Was very underwhelmed by the first weekend access and the comments from people above about load times really put me off bothering. I still have it on pre-order but I'm very likely to cancel it unless I hear something much more positive soon.

i was rocking a pair of rings from first dungeon, "cost of all spells -8" x2.. works wonders ;)
