never been tempted by online dating, to me it still has the stygma attached to it of having given up and being a place to meet proper mentals...... I think I just got really, really unlucky by not saying "fuck this" when I smelled a (fat) rat.

My advice to anyone trying it is:

- if you smell just a hint of bullshit, quit it.
- if there is the smallest hint of psycho, quit it.
- if they don't match their profile photo, quit it.
- if they're a fatty when they tried to portray thin, quit it (unless you're desperate, then hit it and quit it).

I really disliked the whole experience - I'd rather be single and miserable. I understand what Gaff means regarding friend group rifts and problems at work, but I much prefer to at least get to know someone so I can get a good look at them without the sheer pressure of jumping into a date right away. In the workplace, or in a friend group, or even friends of friends give me time to develop feelings of attraction for them before I even talk to them. I can then give them a bit of chat and at least build an attraction between us before I've even asked them out on a date. To me, the date should build on something that's already there.

I understand that's not always possible, so you have to believe in your cock. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I can determine if I wanna fuck someone in about 3 seconds. If I get chatting to them and they don't sound like a psycho, then game on.

Also try not to ask mundane questions such as what she does for a living.

Maybe find out her hobbies and see if you can relate in any way, or recall funny stories about past events relating to your hobby, or whatever the subject is. Ask her opinions about something you saw on the news (not a super depressing subject though). Or ask about the Olympics. You can easily talk for a while about the events you watched etc, were they good at any events? maybe then you could say you were a district champion 100m sprinter, but that's where you found your true passion...the triangle!
