I kind of agree and its a bit of a shame with the timing. But at the end of the day players should really be punished post game if the referee doesn't see it, in the same way cards get rescinded when the ref gets it wrong. I actually think the FA should be able to change a yellow to a red, or a free-kick to a yellow/red too when the ref is stupidly lenient.

I guess its down to how much you want luck involved in football, we could go all the way to full video refereeing from a fairness point of view that would be great, from a drama point of view it would suck.

The FA should *not* be able to alter decisions like that after the match, that would introduce another whole level of bullshit to the proceedings. Then I also imagine that teams would be able to appeal yellows as well as reds, if they can be awarded after the game they can surely be appealed?

Then you might get a situation where a goal that clearly should have been allowed wasn't (Vertonghen's against Sunderland is the first that springs to mind or any number of iffy offside calls), so should the FA be able to award goals too if the team asks them to? What if that goal had decided the match (it didn't), would the FA be able to re-allocate points as well?

They should have absolutely minimal decision-making on a match by match basis, the refs are there to do a job, if they fuck it up then so be it. Violent conduct should be the only exception imo.

I can't see Maureen parking the bus, he always complains when people do it against him, has quite the rant about it.

Oh wait.

He last complained about it last season, despite it happen about a dozen times since.

I guess our style depends on available personnel. This is the weakest our squad has been all season with Salah and Schurrle gone/going, Costa suspended, Fabregas, Ivanovic and Luis all being injured in the last match and everyone having played 120 minutes. I just hope we play Remy over Drogba, who's had a single good game against Spurs by my count.

I hope so, ;) I've been waiting on Costa missing a few games so I can attempt to gain on the leaders!

I've already made a mistake on my part, Fabregas in and Ameobi on the bench, he's just scored a proper THUNDERBASTARD! of a goal.

Praying Fabregas is injured for real, hah.

That was brave of you with the ".0" part. We're not famous for clean sheets (and indeed we'd have conceded at least 1 already without the mighty Lloris).

Had an acca of Spurs, Stoke, Everton, Man Utd and Liverpool. Cheers for the money folks, I just wish I had the stones to put more money on, or to add a Sunderland win to the bet, I had a feeling they would. :(

Zouma looks immense. Courtois looked a bit shaky at points today though.

Yeah but I just think of it as early development wobbles considering his age, even then he has very few compared to other goal keepers.

There's actually being many points in the season where other players have committed offences and got off scott free. (as you said the officiating has been terrible)

Sanchez punching Ivanovic, Cahill kicking Kane in the back, Welbecks challenge on Cahill, Skrtel throwing elbows and continuously making terrible challenges and shirt pulling (Note I added Cahill actually committing an offence too)

But no bans have been handed out for that. It's not out to get us, it's just a bit BS that all of a sudden its a major problem for the FA when a major deciding game comes up.

Just think if the referee has not punished for it the FA shouldn't be allowed to get involved and effectively ruin a top team battle.

Plenty that Cahill and Ivan have got away with to. At the end of day the Ref can't see everything and make the perfect decisions all the time. It is their perception of the event against the rules of the game. They do a decent enough job most of the time under extremely difficult and often hostile circumstances. Damn I'd probably send half the players off every game just for swearing at me if I was given a chance to ref. You constantly see players telling them to f***off and calling them twats and worse. Only sport that accepts that kind of behaviour and it shouldn't. It's made it so the players are the bigger than the game itself.

On subject of FA it is their league and they are the body which enforces the rules. As I understand it they cannot take measures on any incident that is not reported (ref match report), unless that has changed?? So, understandable that they cannot get involved in every case. The only way this behaviour will get stamped out is if there are repercussions. Players should get bans and fines for such behaviour which is against the rules of the game and disrespectful. The problem now is that the games are so well covered from multiple angles that you get to see everything from angles and viewpoints not available to the match officials. Every game should be reviewed and players brought to account for bad behaviour.

Don't think the FA should be able to change a result but do think they should act on misconduct and dangerous play etc. Otherwise it will never be removed from the game. A player will think twice if he is going to lose income the next time he throws an elbow of goes in for a two footed tackle.

That's what I was saying, plenty of players have had incidents this year & the FA have not got involved and just left it.

I'm happy with the result yesterday anyway, Chelsea were pretty pants for most of it so getting away with a draw is good.

Does Carlos Sanchez think he plays for Arsenal or something?

It seems not only can Aston Villa not score but recently they are letting in more goals.

It's officially 10 hours since Villa have scored.

In other news you can see who has forgotten to do their FF team this week. I see lots of Costas!
