Oh I see..my opinions don't count as much as the more experienced armchair managers in this thread...you have all started sounding like the generic answer from Steve Gerrard after the game.

It's not that, you're just a fucking moron.

The Parish interview was very good, a brilliant excercise in good PR. Still I agree with @soze, Pulis has clearly bailed because he's got second season jitters.

After being at Stoke for years with a shoe-string budget? I think it is more likely that he and the director of football didn't agree on transfer targets. There were rumours in January that Pullis wanted experience but the owner wanted players with resale value.

That did not take Sturridge long to start kicking defenders feet and falling over.

feel bad for southampton, deserved some points, Liverpool's winner came from a handball in the build up too

Glad to see Cabella looks just as good in the Premier League as he did in Ligue 1. Outstanding debut, would be really excited about him if I were a Newcastle fan.

His haircut looks mint with our black and white stripes. Ayoze looked a threat too, could've scored immediately after coming on. Hell, even the ginge Colback looked decent.

Didn't pay it any attention until a Spurs fan I work with pointed out how much he hates it. It's pretty fugly!

Watched most of the games so far this weekend and none of the top sides looked that convincing.
  • Arsenal for all their possession did not create many chances, took two injury time goals to win it
  • Man Utd defense looks as flakey as last year, midfield weak. Swansea exposed the weakness.
  • Man City were not convincing at all, score line was extremely flaterring, Newcastle had good chances but could not convert
  • Lollerpool, look great going forward but bad when they sit back and defend. I felt sorry for Southampton they deserved something from that game, second half they were all over them.

Well on the first games Arsenal, Man U and Liverpool still have a hang over from last year, a less than convincing defence.

Thought Man City looked good honestly, just think Newcastle have improved a lot and played well.

Otherwise I entirely agree, it looked like nothing had really changed since last year at Arsenal, Utd and Liverpool. Without Suarez to make up for the defensive frailty, Liverpool could struggle - even more so with the extra games/pressure of Champion's League football to contend with. Utd's problems are still the same in that the players simply aren't good enough. Ferguson was lucky in the extreme to get a full season out of Van Persie, he's too injury prone and I think this season will be more like the last for that than the one before. Their defence is still a joke and their midfield is close to non-existant so far as quality goes. Herrera looked good, but he can't do it all and he's more of a creative midfielder than someone to give them the steel they sorely lack.

Arsenal faced a team that had 23% possession and had a total of 30 second sin our half in the second half. Everyone would have struggled to break them down. They defended well and defended deep.

For sure, but Arsenal's problems remain exactly the same as since Vierra left. When you play a team with a decent midfield who is going to win the ball back? Arteta is being played as a holding midfielder, not going to work against top sides.

I don't think anyone could do anything but admire Arsenal's approach and attacking play, but until the defence is sorted (though it's getting there, just Chambers is pretty inexperienced - don't forget he very nearly cost you a second goal against Palace) and the midfield is reinforced with someone who can tackle I can't see Arsenal winning the league.

Seeing Cech relegated to second choice keeper is so strange, feels horrible, even if it's the right decision long term.

Great performance in the first half after going one behind. New signings all looked great, Schurrle and Hazard were solid. Looks like every issue we had has been addressed. That Cesc assist... fuck me sideways. Exactly what we needed. Disappointed we didn't go for the throat more in the second half, but that's 1) Mourinho for you and 2) a bit of lacking match fitness after the post-WC pre-season I think.
