I don't think it is the case, Southampton owe Bournemouth 25% of any fee that get for him, so they want more to match their valuation. They've also publicly said yesterday that they won't negotiate for any more players after selling Lambert until the new manager is in. Those are facts, rather than speculation.

Facts have no place during silly season

I'd rather have Milner in than Smalling. At least he's experimenting with it before games that matter.

I like Milner. Not the most spectacular player but great to have in the squad.

If he hadn't packed the squad with the usual list of names there are plenty of options for rightback.

Fuck it, even Phil Jones.

Nathaniel Clyne ?

I think a lot of the Milner hate stems from how bland he appears, as well as the boring James Milner Twitter account :p I've been impressed with him when I've seen him play for City this season.

Smalling is dog shit. Can't believe anyone would seriously want him near an England shirt.

It's quite clear in the story that Roy is experimenting. There could be a time in the cup that he needs to swap people around because of injury etc. Milner is in the squad as a utility player so this makes perfect sense. So much pointless hate.

Although it is probably the right decision, that's pretty ruthless from Mourinho!

Its not a massive amount for a world class striker but Spanish strikers tend to suck in the prem.

£4m for Lambert was really good business.

Hope so. It's only good business if he does the job - which is not a foregone conclusion. Otherwise it's 4m pissed up the wall.

On the face of it tho, looks to be.

What about fake Spanish strikers?

Must admit I'm fairly positive about this, he could be the fiery, driven fellow upfront we've missed since Drogba left, or he could spend his entire time here banned or injured. I'm hoping the first one, but we'll see. I certainly get the impression there won't be a dull moment when he's around...

Yeah he could be excellent and I think in today's silly money transfers it isn't a bad one.

I think most Chelsea fans are wary of big money striker signings, especially when Costa has only had one good season and is a veritable cunt.

The Ox is looking decent. Barkley is looking a bit casual in possession so far.
