I was just reading that and thinking exactly the same thing. Playing like Liverpool against Italy in Manaus is madness. It might work in some of the other venues further south but if they do it there they're fucked. Even Brazilians struggle in Manaus.

The Italians will struggle too.

Playing any other way than like liverpool, where England have the chance of a decent first half at least, is madness. Play like Woy and we lose anyway.

They'll struggle a lot less than England. They'll play low-intensity keep-ball.

Don't they play defensively minded tactics like Chelsea? If so playing like Liverpool might be a bad idea!

No point scoring maybe two goals in the first half of the first game with nice fast paced football if you can barely move your legs for the rest of the tournament.

Maybe play a bit like Liverpool in the non rain forest stadiums later in the tournament but I think a boring hoofball game might be the only option in the first game to ensure we stay fit.

How many days between games? If they can't recover in 3 days from high tempo first-half and hoofball second then they're fucked anyway tbh.

We try hoofball against the Italians and they'll take us to pieces. What's the point in losing? Winning gives confidence and energy...

I wonder if they will make them wear dresses to play football in?

Once they invent the machines that change the weather in Qatar, everyone will surely want to cover up anyway because it'll be so cold

Strange for 9 million, he's a great player though and something Liverpool could use when it comes to squad rotation next season.

Lambert to pool for 9 million being reported... strange signing.

Weird. Source?

Sounds like we're trying to wrap up the England squad. But it's not a signing I'm massively enamoured by.

£4m is very cheap even if the add ons take it to £9m I would still buy him for his passport as a squad player.

Guys, Paddypower are offering odds of 100/1 for England to win the world cup for new customers, up to a maximum of £10. Worth a go if like me you were going to throw a tenner on England anyway. You also get a free £5 bet on the first match with that which you could just stick on Brazil to beat Croatia.

edit - registering is ridiculously quick and you can just deposit with Paypal. I did it in two minutes at work.

Could be worse. At least they've got money to spend. Whereas LFC are going for "real quality", like £4m Lambert...

Lambert will do a job as a solid backup striker for a couple of years to fill in for cup duties and in case of injuries. He's proven in the Premier League and if you get Lallana as well then they already have an understanding.

I'm feeling a bit sorry for Southampton at the moment with the carrion feeding on their still-living corpse! Lambert, Lalanna, Lovren, Shaw all in discussions. Just hope that their academy manages to bring through some new exciting talents who are given a chance and that the club can build upon the base they've built with their new Training grounds etc.

Their wage budget swallows up their tv revenue and they also have to pay for their new training ground. They have to sell and hope to stay up next season with whats left.
