I get the feeling they want an even bigger premium than normal for English players.

Del Bosque loves him, think it's more to do with his personality and being part of the squad than anything else - similar to Khedira and Germany (except Khedira is good).

Lampard gone to 'murica, to be joined by David Villa. Pity, he's the only Englishman at that club that I have any time for.

As much as I would rather see him at Arsenal than United another small skilful midfielder is not what we need right now. Seemingly if any other team agree a fee we get first refusal to match the fee and talk to Cesc?

Didn't he leave you to win things though?

In all seriousness I don't think it was a to win things deal from Cesc it was a case of his boy hood club came calling. I would like to see him back but it would mean selling a midfielder or two.

If barca really are selling him then they must be hurting financially or worried about ffp. From a footballing pov it makes little sense.

Yeah I was surprised by that as well. At least it's obviously not just the England team where form isn't taken into any consideration whatsoever.

Can somebody please explain when 'form' becomes 'class' and vice a versa? How is Torres all that different from Kevin Philips? He had a couple of outstanding seasons and has since been average. Why is he still seen as an out of form star and not just average but with a couple of fantastic seasons at Liverpool.

From the two Barce season ticket holders I know Cesc is getting a lot of stick for his lack of performances and has been struggling to make an impact. I don't watch Spanish football so I have no idea if its true.

Just watched the end of the Women's FA Cup Final and one of the players will 100 caps for England lived homeless for 6 years while playing for England. Pampered fuckers playing for the mens team could learn something about love for the game from her.

I'd rather have Kevin Philips :p both feet in the box and out, only thing was his pace. But he's had a good career!

Lallana delayed over a £2m loyalty bonus that Southampton have to pay him unless he asks to leave. Liverpool don't want to pay it so it looks like he could end up at Spuds.

Meh. I wondered if that was the case. If he can't sacrifice we don't want him. Simple.

This will show if he's about money or football...

I don't think it is the case, Southampton owe Bournemouth 25% of any fee that get for him, so they want more to match their valuation. They've also publicly said yesterday that they won't negotiate for any more players after selling Lambert until the new manager is in. Those are facts, rather than speculation.

Yeah, but it's quite common to have a bonus payment tied to not transfer requesting their way out of a club. Lots of players have them in their contracts. The financial imperative to not leave the club is a big 'un.
