GTFO. He's bin with Arsenal for 7/8 years and hasnt won anything. I've said this in the 2011/2012 thread before the European championship, but you didnt believe me then. If RVP wants to win anything in his career then one thing is certain. He has to leave Arsenal. If wanted more cash, he could have left 4 years ago.
Don't talk bollocks RVP is getting £220k a week because he was the best in the league last year. He played all season and scored a ton of goals. This was the first season he has stayed fit and scored all those goals. And it is also the first year there have been any rumours about him leaving. You look at the below and it is clear. It is the first year another team will come in and offer him £200k a week.

2004-2005 - 18+23 - 10
2005-2006 - 21+17 - 11
2006-2007 - 25+6 - 13
2007-2008 - 20+3 - 9
2008-2009 - 38+6 - 20
2009-2010 - 18+2 - 10
2010-2011 - 26+7 - 22
201102012 - 45+3 - 37

Will be interesting to see which RVP Utd are buying, the Arsenal RVP or the National team RVP.

Or last season's RVP, or the previous 7 seasons rvp? Seems like a big gamble to me, the sort Utd don't usually take.

Yeah he hade a crazy season last year, but RVP never made it a secret he was staying with Arsenal, so why should anyone ask? Also there was never an obvious club for him to go to. Something in Germany? Italy? Spain? Owke so lets stay in England. But why leave Arsenal if you do. Don't forget the bond Wenger has with RVP aswell. He took him from Feyenoord where he hade a fkload of troubles and it wasnt even sure he would be playing.

RVP never made it a secret there whas a big chance he would be leaving after last season. He has stayed with Arsenal for 7 years and hasnt won shite. If he wants to make anything of his career he's got to go to a club that can win him some titles. That's his ambition.

If he has bin the best in the league last year, broken some records aswell (most goals in a season?) one could argue he derserves every penny of it (I wouldnt though). Stop ranting on the kid, because you support Arsenal. Have a look at your club instead.

If you think money has nothing to do with it you are in a dream world. If RVP had another injury hit season last season he would be going nowhere because no one would want him. He is moving now because after one good season he is getting stupid money offers that is the only reason. Or he could of asked to go to a French Dutch or Spanish club years ago if winning trophies was all that mattered but then he would not of got the transfer because of his injury record.

Why for the love of god go to a French or Dutch club? That's like moving down 4 divisions. And Spain? Barcalona really isnt an option (Messi, etc) nor do they want him. Real Madrid may have bin an option, but then even that's unsure. In Italy he would last one game and brake everything he has. Germany could have bin an option (Bayern).

Injuries? Yeah he hade some. Too much perhaps, but even then when he played, he did more then well. And sure, money will be involved. It always is, but his contract ended (next year?). Like I said, I've mentioned this before the European championship started. That's because everyone Holland knew Robin wanted a change (to win a title or two). Not sure why the people at Arsenal didnt get the clue.

Good or bad season, a lot more money or a little more all didnt matter. He was gonne leave anyway. The fact he has mentioned it 3-4 month's ago and even at the start of 2012 should be a clue.

He didn't want to go to a foreign club because his wife and kids like England. If it was about the money and nothing else, then Arsenal had an easy choice didn't they? Break their wage ceiling to keep him. However, even if they had done that, I think he would still have gone. You can't blame the guy for moving for the money (which is no doubt a big part of his motivation, but not the only part, as you seem to think) if Arsenal refuse to pay the going rate for the Player of The Year and other clubs, with more ambition will pay him that. If Arsenal don't want to play that game, fine, but don't moan when you've effectively become relegated to the status of feeder club.

If I was a football player at 29 years of age, with a young family, earning 70-80 grand a week for a club that's been spinning its wheels for seven years and showing no signs of raising its ambitions beyond a regular CL spot, and clubs are knocking on my door offering 2-3 times the money and a serious crack at silverware, its a fucking no-brainer frankly.

For what it's worth, van Persie was reportedly offered huge wages to stay at Arsenal. We were happy to match all but the most ridiculous of wages.

He *has* left to try and win things. Whether you agree with that or not (given Man Utd's current team and glaring holes, are they really *that* much closer to winning something than Arsenal?) is a different matter - RvP think there's a better chance he'll get some success to crown his career off at Man Utd.

83 - In the past three seasons Louis Saha has featured in 83 PL games (73%), four more than Robin van Persie in that period.

To be perfectly clear. I have no problem with RVP moving because he wants money or because he wants to try something new (yes like winning arf arf arf). I just think the money has as much to do to it as winning things. I said last season that if he was going to move it would be now as it is his last chance so I am not surprised. Just pissed off with people seeming to think he has done us a favour by sticking with us this long which is total bollocks.

Why for the love of god go to a French or Dutch club?

Because 3 or 4 season ago he would not of got into a bigger club than Arsenal with his injury problems fact. So if he was that desperate for trophies he could of gone to a top club in a smaller league and won them.

Rubbish. 3-4 seasons ago everyone knew what he whas capable off and even back then he showed it on the pitch. You expect to win any European Trophy with a French or Dutch club? And why go to a smaller league and win trophies there? What's the point of that? That's like you kickboxing vs a 5 year old. A premiereship title is far more important/impressive then a Dutch or French league title. Infact if he did go here, he could (on his own) get that club the title. That's how shite our league is.

And to add to that. RVP has made more goals in one season then anyone ever has in England and still Arsenal didnt win the title. That's how shite Arsenal is.

Actually SAF has made overtures to Arsenal about RvP as far back as November 2010.

And yet did not make any official bids or try to rock the boat at all? That says it all, until now RVP was not worth making a move for.

And yet not one team made an offer for him. Face facts a player who sometimes only manages 10 appearances in a season is not worth going after and no one goes and buys an injury plagued player for bigger money because they can see what he is capable of. Last season there were hardly any rumours about RVP yet after the season he has had he was on everyone's wish list regardless of his contract situation.

Already mentioned above. RVP never made a secret of it that he whas staying with Arsenal (Wenger).

Also mentioned above, my post that he whas leaving (which he mentioned himself) whas from 15feb of this year. That's halve way last season.

Injuries can be a matter of training, scedule, etc, etc. It's not the bases you select players from. Also have a look at AC Milan and their training habbits.

If you read a few of the stories about today we have not actually offered him any sort of huge contract. As when he sat down to discuss terms he made a list of demands which were ridiculous. So since before Podolski the club have been on a mission to replace him knowing he was leaving just not knowing where he would end up.

It is exactly that. If we get last seasons RVP then fucking brilliant, I will smile from ear to ear. If we get anything less, then I will be very annoyed that we blew the budget for a player will no resale value. It could be a very shrewd buy or a total fucking disaster, personally I am leaning towards the latter but hoping and praying for the former.

Smart business by Arsenal though, now they need to reinvest that money and not bullshit around by saying 'we already replaced him'. Utter fucking nonsense, you brought in some unproven talent but you need to back it up with a world class replacement.

I think we will announce Theo singing a new long term deal before the game tomorrow (nerf though today was friday:() and we will see him get his chance to play though the middle. Unless Theo leaves or the other 3 go I think we are done signing forwards.

I'd hardly call Lukas Podolski "unproven talent".

He was signed months ago and was bought to play alongside RVP, don't listen to the nonsense being spouted about that being otherwise. My point was also in relation to players who have not played in England before, there is always a risk with that regardless but those viewing Podolski as an outright replacement are deluded.

Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla unproved talent? Not really.

Unproven in so far as they have never played in England, Podolski has the best chance of success as the rigors of BL are much the same as EPL. Giroud is definately a risk, we have seen as many failures from France as we have seen successes and frankly his record at Montpellier (hardly world beaters) is good but nothing amazing. Carzola is a decent enough player but again, this is England not Spain, can he adapt and will he?

Oh and out of the three Podolski is the only one who would get close to being called world class imo.

Didn't Giroud score 32 goals last season? I'd say that's pretty good.

For Cazorla, high profile players coming from Spain in the past few years have adapted well no? David Silva and Juan Mata in particular are arguably two of the best players in the league currently.

Ironically enough despite Podolski being arguably the closest on paper to be worthy of being 'called' world class, he's the one I expect most to disappoint out of all three. He moved to Bayern and struggled psychologically for one reason or another and only flourished again when he moved back to Cologne where he was top dog. RVP's moving away is probably good in that sense as it moves Podolski closer to the top of the food chain, but he certainly didn't have a great Euros and with a dodgy temperament I question whether he'll be a success unless it 'clicks' instantly for him.

All signings come with a risk, but it's unfair to call players outright unproven just because they 'haven't done it in England'. It's a very arrogant assessment of our league when frankly we continually get outclassed in Europe by the top clubs from Spain, Germany and Italy.

No he scored 25. In France, a league of riches and utter rags. I shall refer you to Chamakh and all the pre-signing hype.

Carzola, 5ft 6in and coming into a punishing league, he might be brilliant or he might struggle.

Podolski seems the most suited to our league physically and mentally, the weather won't bother him a bit and nor will the tackles.

Fair enough on the 'unproven' bit, probably a poor choice of words BUT that doesn't mean that my point doesn't hold water.

In fairness, Bayern's a tough place to go to. If you don't make an impact immediately everyone gets on your back and you're frozen out. Which is exactly what happened to him then. His international record speaks for itself, you don't play and score that many for Germany if you're a heap of shite.

David Silva is 5ft 7, the same height as both Juan Mata and United's new signing Shinji Kagawa. I don't think the 1 inch of heigh Cazorla lacks on those three will prevent him from being a success.

Mentally despite already having moved to a bigger club than Arsenal and struggling because of the pressure of being at a big club...

Giroud sure, he's definitely coming from a sub-par league, but he's physically built for the Premier League if that's all that matters.

I'm not saying they're all going to be a success, far from it, but it really is tiresome that the continual reasoning given for the potential failings of any new signing is that the BPL is just so much more 'physical' or just plain better than any other league.

You need to look at how many foreign players come here, struggle for a year or two and then leave. Arsenal have signed 3 players but it will be a miracle if all 3 pay off, more importantly when you look what they have lost and not replaced in recent years you just know that those 3 players are not going to be enough turn that into a title challenging side. So back to my original point, they need to take the £22.5 million and mebbe raid the bank a bit, then go buy someone world class to compliment what they already have.

And how many players go to La Liga, the Bundesliga or Serie A and fail? It seems more prevalent here because we sign more foreign players in a relative sense due to the over-inflated price of homegrown talent and simply because this league is our focus and thereby we know more about it.
