Overhyped because he's English, nowhere near as good as fellani imo.

Where does the transfer leave Evertons midfield atm?

Most of what I heard is he has the potential to be as good as Jack, Josh or Tom but he is not reaching his potential and playing less first team football might not be the answer. But maybe a step up in class around him will spur him on?

He isn't convinced that he can get better than Anderson/Cleverley/Scholes/Carrick without spending £30+ million, that is the real problem. He does not want to pay big money for a late 20's player, nor does he want to pay big money for a teenager unproven in Europe. Before the Glazer's it wasn't an issue, the PLC posted a profit every single year and there was always a warchest but this time whatever he spends will be the last big signing until the new TV and Chevrolet deals kick in.

And yet he was about to stump up that kind of money for "a teenager unproven in Europe", until said teenager decided Paris poon is more attractive than Manchester slappers. I hope to God Cleverley and Kagawa both prove themselves this season (and stay fit), because we're fucked if they don't.

Spurs have reportedly been turned down by Lloris, M'Vila and Sahin as they all want clubs with Champions League prospects.

No, United were stuck at £28 million including a ton of addons, we were far short of the total price PSG paid.

I think 28m counts as "that kind of money" when we're talking about 30m.

United were only offering about £20m in cash plus addons much as they did with the Anderson and Nani deals, it looks like PSG payed the fee in full and so we weren't even close in the end despite what the media have said. United are not going to pay more than they did for Rooney for anyone totally unproven, we just don't have the cash to do that again and the risk is even bigger bringing in someone from another continent. United were willing to risk it at £20m and they are willing to pay £30m for any world class attacking midfielder under 25, that is the biggest issue at the moment, they won't pay silly money for players in their late 20's and we won't pay £35m for someone like Modric fullstop.

Not my debt, evil ginger midget Jew's! :p Always remember that, United have never run at an operational loss in over 20 years. We are servicing the Glazer's debts, not debts incurred by the club itself.

Yeah they have shafted your club. Weren't they saying that the bonds they sold making hundreds of millions of pounds needs to be paid back in 10 years meaning all that needs to be saved between now and then or more likely the Glazers will cut and run leaving you is maybe a billion pounds worth of debt. You were unlucky in the owner lottery there.

Yep it is much along those lines, Liverpool had a lucky escape getting rid of their scumbag owners but I fear we are in for the longhaul.

They have effectively ended UTDs dominance. Unless bring in a couple of midfielders I can't see you competing for the premiership this year and will probably be in gentle decline for a few years more.

What they don't seem to realise is that without success, half of UTDs fan base and thus money making ability will evaporate, meaning the debts will increase and their ability to pay them will decrease.

They have to replace Scholes now and have a replacement ready for Giggs at least by the end of the season...in the very least, a couple of decent defenders and a proper striker wouldn't go amiss either.

Modric to Real for 23 million, less than half of the 50 million he was supposedly worth.

Haha

People have been banging on about United falling away for years now, we lost the league on goal difference, against a club that had spent a shit load on the best it could buy. Scholes can't be replaced and neither can Giggs, but in Kagawa they have someone that likes the ball and knows how to score, Nani, Valencia and Young will have to step up for Giggs.

A couple of reports.

Sahin loan to Liverpool seems set to go.

Modric set to join Real, flying to Spain tomorrow to finalise the deal.

23m is a good fair price, doubt they'd have sold to an English club for that much though.

Didn't they turn down 30 from Chelsea last year?

Hardly worth selling him for that much, they bought him for 17m when he was unaccomplished and sold him for 23m at his peak? Wow good move, try replacing him for that much.
