I spent about a month living in Stoke and then moved to Wolves. It says something that I considered Wolves to be a pretty big step up from Stoke (although I did genuinely enjoy my time in Wolves). But Stoke... *shudder*...

I can confirm, I live in Stafford, and before Stoke got into the Prem most of their "fans" were either United, Liverpool, or didn't follow football at all. If there is any justice in the world they will get relegated for the next few seasons and end up playing local derbies with Stafford Rangers.

Agreed, I have a lot of admiration for Port Vale, though this could be clouded by the enjoyable matches we had against them when I was younger, but Stoke have always been a poorly attended and supported team. Universally hated is an understatement.

While I personally dislike Stoke (my ex-wife is from Leek so we used to visit the area quite a lot), and can't stand the current Stoke City setup, its a bit unfair to say Stoke City were always poorly attended and supported. The Victoria Ground was one of those places I ended up going to a lot as a kid for United away games (Goodison would be another, but never Anfield - too dangerous), and the fans were no better or worse than anyone else, and it had a kind of run-down charm. It was the first place (of three) that I got run over by a police horse though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't their 'laws' only require them to not drink it (or get drunk, whatever it is)?

Not forbidden in the Qur'an at all. Some very conflicting verses covering alcohol. Good link on them here:
http://www.free-minds.org/alcohol-quran

A lot of the clerics state it is forbidden ("Harram"). The Imam's even changed the language of the texts over time to state it was sinful over the original texts which stated its usefulness was questionable.

Controlling the masses has always been an evolving method :)

You've been run over by a police horse three times? Fuck.

Well to be fair, I've been run over by police horses twice. The other time I was run over by a horse it was being ridden by a girlfriend who just found out I'd cheated on her.

So glad we're top 4 already, today would be well stressful otherwise.

If it stays 1-1 at Chelsea and Arsenal win 1-0 do we get the playoff game?

Unlucky Bale Hotspurs you put up a valiant fight considering you carry ten muppets every week.

I'm cringing so hard right now at Arsenal, dancing about, celebrating like they've won a trophy.

We did our best to fuck it up. If we want to compete properly we need to hope that £150m for players is real. Some of my friends who work at the club say that Stevan Jovetic will be announced next week and that we got him in a Podolski style deal.

For Arsenal it is. :) You don't have many more seasons of reliable 4th places left in you though, methinks.

If only we had strengthened our attacking force in January blah blah blah...

Not only for us. It was the only thing Spuds were playing for too. And if you had finished above Arsenal and got 4th you would of had a fucking parade about it. But now you are 5th your fans will act above it all for another year ;)
