nah, all the 'nited fans that wanted him killed will now have their tongues up his arse again claiming him once more as the best player in the world.

Well I'm a Man Utd fan and I think he's been a complete ****. I do think he may be right about the clubs ambitions when it comes to spending money on players, but it seems odd the issue miraculously resolves itself.

But part of the problem has always been value for money in the market of which there isnt any. How many "marquee signings" come to united and perform from the off? Rooney and Rio ferdinand are the two i can think of. Most flop or take ages to bed in. United normally make superstars, rather than sign them. Look at RVN, Ronaldo, Vidic and Evra. None were household names outside their own country but Man United developed them into (arguably) world class players. United have proved you dont have to spend oodles of money all the time.

A nice big wage packet probably made him forget all about their supposed lack of ambition. They should have fucked him off.

Although that is true Marc, there comes a time when a big signing is needed.

Surplus players: Wes Brown and John O'Shea

Right Back: Gary Neville (too old), Raphael & Fabio just seem to fall over alot and foul people all the time.

Scholes won't last much longer: Fletcher and Carrick are both great players, but Fletcher can't provide those killer passes like Scholes, and neither Scholes or Fletcher have the ability to get past people. I left Carrick out of that as he is more defensively played, thus should not be expected to run past players, and although he has great passing, it's short to medium passes.

Claude Makelele's Holding role caused the downfall of the Attacking Midfielder position This has caused alot of teams to apply a holding player, but Man Utd simply have no one in the middle of the park who can get past players with any real flair. This means almost all our attacks come from playing down the wing. If I can see this, I am sure the Mourinho's and Ancelotti's can. With that in mind, if gives Man Utd a somewhat repetative style of play.

Giggs: He's old too :( even if he plays next season, he wont play every game so we need someone great to fill his boots. I would say our best player in the sense of wing play, getting past their man, providing good crosses is Evra and he's a Left Back!

Valencia cannot cross, also with a slow right back playing he gets no overlapping runs so people can easily double up on marking him.

4-5-1: When we play this formation against the top teams, I feel we lack an efficient holding midfielder/destroyer. Roy Keane/Gattuso/Mascherano is what I mean. The guy who causes havoc for whoever has the ball in midfield. Owen Hargreaves can do this, but because he's got no knees, will we ever see him play?

Anderson: Seem's one of the players who has the potential, but has yet to find it.

Park: Other than the fact we signed him, then made more than his transfer fee on Park related merchandise, plus his unending stamina, he seems crap. When he comes on I never can tell what he's supposed to be doing.

What the fuck?

wes Brown is a solid defender, not enough pace, but solid. He add's squad depth but has suffered from injury.

O'shea is bloody useful -without him we would have been seriously screwed in many positions over the last 5 years. He doesn't excel in any position, but is good in most. He also scores and sets up a lot of goals.

Neville - he's there for his voice and experience, not his ability to play anymore - although he still can turn back the years when he is fit.

Silva twins - They are young, did you see the champs league game on wednesday? Rapheal played really well, covered and made some key interceptions - last season he would have been sent off for bringing a player down in similar situations. They are fast and learning.

Although right back is a problem area, it won't be in a year, and who is available to fill the void? I can't think of one great right back we could sign.

Scholes - yes, he has a season left, maybe two at most. He's still a genius though.

Fletcher - are you on crack? He is the best midfielder we have in terms of all round play, his defensive and attacking play are both great and he gives his all. Also scores a lot too.

Getting past players with flair in midfield - Giggs, valencia, Nani, Scholes, Gibson, Park and Anderson.

Valencia - this is why I know you have not been watching games. Valencia cannot cross? Really? So where did all our goals come from last season then? Must have been a magic pixy putting all those crosses in for Rooney to score from.

Anderson has looked much better this season, but I think it's make or break for him now. He came with a lot of pressure on his shoulders and struggled with it.

Park: Again, who have you been watching? He's agile, fit, full of guille and supports the attack well. He also makes sure he fufills his team duty and is never selfish.

And yet he's still not the top paid player in England, let alone the world.

Considering what lesser players get at other clubs, then asking for his market value in wages is fair.

You may not like it, but football has to act like other job markets. I don't like it either, but it is what it is.

Oh yeah the Turkish team...great opposition they were. Raphael could turn out to be great, but I just don't like how he constantly runs around falling over and fouling people. Evra is not exactly tall, but using his strength and low centre of gravity he holds his own fine. Hell, even Ashley Cole stands up longer than Raphael!

Fletcher - are you on crack? He is the best midfielder we have in terms of all round play, his defensive and attacking play are both great and he gives his all. Also scores a lot too.
woah calm down a sec, I did not say he was not one of our best midfielders, in actual fact I agree with you. Nor did I mention his athleticism or goal threat.
What I did say is he does not have the long range passing which is so important to us due to our rigid (up the wings) play. I also said he does not have the ability to go past people with any real conviction. I am not asking for a player who can do everything...they don't exist, but I am simply saying we lack a player who can get the ball and make something happen with their ability to run at people.
Ronaldinho, C. Ronaldo, Messi (yes yes yes I know they dont defend <extreme examples>), but you see players like Benayoun, Joe Cole (on a good day), Nasri who can run towards the goal, beat his man and cause defenders to worry on who should go to him.

Getting past players with flair in midfield - Giggs, valencia, Nani, Scholes, Gibson, Park and Anderson.
Giggs YES, although as mentioned he can't play every game.

Valencia can't cut inside, he just runs up the wing all day.

Nani...I am sure you've heard the commentators mention him do this. He seems to do something brilliant, then completley fucks up the next bit. Like he will take on his man and get into a good position with the ball, then cross the ball where no one is. Regardless of Nani and Valencia, they are wingers thus it means my issue with the centre of the park still remains.

Scholes is a legend, but he has no pace or dribbling, never really had any pace. He is a genius and finds space meaning he's unmarked (Sheringham was the same regarding finding space). Problem is, when someone goes towards Scholes, he passes. I would like someone who can beat their man to cause a more direct goal threat, than it always being from on the wings.

DOn't think Anderson or Park cut the mustard. Gibson seems a good player, but he does not play much and seems to be a younger, fitter (obviously less experienced) Scholes. Nothing wrong with that, but again it's not the player I feel we lack.

Valencia - this is why I know you have not been watching games. Valencia cannot cross? Really? So where did all our goals come from last season then? Must have been a magic pixy putting all those crosses in for Rooney to score from.
I totally agree, it was like him and rooneys minds were linked. I was like "OMFG his crossing is great this year". But let's not forget that crossing skill soon dried up. Granted he had the horrible leg break, but he was back to his poor crossing before that.

Anderson has looked much better this season, but I think it's make or break for him now. He came with a lot of pressure on his shoulders and struggled with it.
Spot on, also with the injuries and car crash I think he will take time to get going again.

Park: Again, who have you been watching? He's agile, fit, full of guille and supports the attack well. He also makes sure he fufills his team duty and is never selfish.

Don't deny any of that, but it's still not the player who can run at people and cause trouble.

Granted Benayoun is classed as a winger, but with the 4-2-3-1 formation Liverpool play, he would drift into wing positions and attacking midfield positions. He is not really the best player to use as an example, but his ability when he has the ball is what I would like to see at United within a central attacking position.

Please watch from 20 seconds to 30 (tbh I am quite enjoying the whole video and have not watched the whole thing yet, so probably more suitable clips in there). You see how he's heading towards the goal and the opposing fans must be thinking "shit, what's he gonna do next!".
I just want someone who can do that style of running in the middle of the park. Giggs plays in some more central roles so he offers this, but again he cant play every game :(

Bahu, you are confused about football. We are never going to agree on this, so I'm not continuing past the post. My view is that you've not watched enough games and really on press reports to much to form your view.

Valencia has always been a good crosser, he was never poor. He scores most of his goals by cutting inside - who have you been watching, because it's not him.

The Silva's are much younger than Evra and Cole - those are both in their playing peak years. They were no better than the Silva's when they were their age. You expect too much from youngsters. They need time to grow into great players.

J Cole and Benayoun are a lot older than Nani, Nasri is a more gifted player through the middle, and more consistent, but Nani is a better winger.

Benayoun is not a winger. He's an attacking midfielder who can play across the pitch.

Valencia is a superb signing. I saw a stat somewhere that of Rooneys league goals last season, something like close to half were attributable to assists from Valencia

I do not agree with your view as I watched 90% of the games last season, and I've only missed one game this year. Also I don't enter football talks much so you thinking I form my view on press reports is laughable.

Valencia has always been a good crosser, he was never poor. He scores most of his goals by cutting inside - who have you been watching, because it's not him.
I wish I knew a site where we could look at the stats for his crossing. I know he had a very good portion of the season where Rooney scored headers frequently, but he seems to mess up alot of them.

The Silva's are much younger than Evra and Cole - those are both in their playing peak years. They were no better than the Silva's when they were their age. You expect too much from youngsters. They need time to grow into great players.
You're right, but I worry that with all these young players, not all will turn out great and I don't wan't us to do an Arsenal and say "oh in 2-3 seasons these players will be great" and they don't reach their potentional. I can't see the harm in bringing in some experienced world class players.

If I stumble across a site which shows crossing stats, I'll look up valencia and see his completion percent. If I am wrong I will happily hold my hands up and say I've been a noob.

But that's always been the United way under Fergie. You have to develop lots and lots of youngsters to uncover those few gems. Many will never make it, but you need lots of good youngsters to compete with each other to push them to the next level.

Fergie buys to add something that he hasn't been able to develop through youth. That's the right way to do it, and being compared to Arsenal is no bad thing, all teams have cycles, where the squad is not for today, but tomorrow.

Just proves that he wanted money all along if he had signed a new contract on the same wage structure then United fans might have had some sympathy for what he said i don't have a problem him signing for more money but it just seems like his reasons for wanting to leave are now untrue.

Either that or there is a clause in his contract stating that they will sign a couple of star players but with what money?

The Red Knights are happy to pay the yanks 1 billion for united but they won't budge.

BBC News - Gazza arrested over drug offence

Hopefully he goes down pretty soon, I think it's the only thing that will save him. It's all very sad.

Ive probably told this story before but when I was in the last year of high school me and mate had some LSD and wagged school, took it and went on the pleasurebeach. We were sat at the back of the big one with no one else on it except for 2 guys at the front. We were like "whoaah these trips are mint, I can see Paul Gascoigne". It was actually him with Paul Stewart. After the ride finished he stood and chatted with us for ages! I think he was just buzzing off the shit we were comming out with. Was a top bloke and even gave us £50 each on the promise we treated our mums for being dicks and wagging school.

Just to make things worse, a photo appeared on the front of the local rag of Paul Stewart and Paul Gascoigne on the big one......with 2 lads who were wagging school. I got suspended for a week for that but was worth it to say ive met Paul gascoigne when he was sane

He might get fined or suspended for a match or two.. Nothing will change at all since Valdes will be back at that time. Barca will most likely pay his fine any way
