Doesn't matter, they have Irn Bru and Marmite flavour crisps to replace him anyway!

Oh my fucking days. What the hell is wrong with Nolan.

Newcastle have confirmed he is having a medical at West Ham. West fucking Ham. I know he's loyal to Big Sam, but come on. What a waste of your last years of football. The guy is a premiership footballer, not a championship one.

Oh and silly silly scousers: BBC Sport - Maxi Rodriguez could be on his way out of Liverpool

I think it says more about the state of the club than Nolan tbh, they have alienated Nolan and Barton two of their stand out perfomers last year. I fear Tiote and Enrique will follow Nolan out of the door.

Ashley is only concerned with making money, if he could keep newcastle in by the bones of their arse every year and keep off loading players for millions he would.

Didn't Nolan score a buttload of goals and Barton a buttload of assists?

So Barton just tweeted something fun.

"Great player, leader, captain, person, trainer and mostly a friend for life. Devastated to see him SOLD! #mejoseandjonasnext"

This club is completely falling to pieces.

A bit sad, If he and Raul goes i'd say we loose our two most intelligent players on the pitch. Even if they are not always the players that gets the pundits they really make the team tick.

Despite that his age makes him sit a bit loose as it seems Kenny wants to completely rebuild the squad, if you want to cash in on him I guess this is the last chance (even if he would most likely go cheap).

He's hardly the sort of player you want if you want to challenge for titles. Surely it means you'll replace him with a winger who might get assists or something crazy? :p Actually considering its Daglish it'll probably just be SWP.

It says something about the reality of football finances though, Ashley is not content to sink his money into the club with no return. Pardew knew the brief when he came in. they simply cannot afford those players, Jonas, Enrique and Barton where always going to leave. The first two because they are two good for newcastle, and barton because he is too greedy. Nolan is a shock though, the money must be really good. If they can keep Tiote, they have enough youth to still survive next season and let's see who Pardew can bring in. I've been impressed with what he has done since Houghton left.

Kenny and Damien desperately wants to get in some pace in the wings, and probably someone who has a good cross so it might hide the fact how much we over payed for Carroll. :p

I think he is exactly the player you want to challenge for titles, intelligent, model pro and never once has complains about sitting on the bench :) But true, maybe not for the starting 11 week in and out.

It's a catch 22 really though Ch3t, we're not big enough to hold onto our stars, and because of that we're not progressing as much as a team.

You'll replace him with barton, mark my words. You'll overpay too.

Isn't Barton more of a defensive midfielder ;/

It looks to me that Maxi knows we will be getting in some better wingers than him this summer, and he will not be playing much next season, so he wants out.

Juan Manuel Mata please :D

Barton's a CM, more box to box than defensive. Tiote is Newcastle's DM and he looks like he could become a fantastic player.

Think you're dreaming if you'll get Mata, he could go to a big club and get CL football. Not to mention he'll cost a fair bit.

This has been said before; but do you actually ever watch football or base all your knowledge on what the press report?

Barton played most of the season on the right wing for newcastle, or central mid but coming on to the right. He was the main source of crosses for carrol. He's a link up / playmaker more than anything. I've never seen him as a defensive mid.

If he can stop getting carded every single game, maybe. Until then, he doesn't have the discipline.

Poor Cabaye.. why did you go to Newcastle :(?

Losing nolan is a pain, but cabaye/tiote in cm looks good to me, not fussed about barton, the guys a tool. Signing a left back as quick as we did says a lot about Jose's future at the club :(

If we Dan hang on to jonas, and get a fairly decent striker (demba ba next on the list apparently.) Think we'll be alright, we've got the coolest defender in the league already Super Coli!!!!!!

He mainly plays CM.

It's like Real Madrid/Man City buying Gerrard and playing him on the right.. what's the point.

Live Soccer on YouTube: the 2011 Copa America Tournament

The beautiful game, as played by some of the world's best players, is coming to YouTube this summer.

Streamed to more than 50 countries around the world, the 2011 Copa America - the South American national soccer tournament that comes around every 4 years - will be broadcast live from Argentina on YouTube, July 1 - 24. Arguably the most important global sporting event of the year, the 2011 Copa will feature the 10 South American national teams and two guest teams, Mexico and Costa Rica, battling for continental soccer supremacy.

On the Copa America channel at youtube.com/copaamerica, soccer fans will have access to all 26 matches including pool play, semi-finals, quarter-finals and the championship match, live streaming as they happen with exclusive-to-YouTube commentary, as well as a highlights from all the matches, goal compilations, full-game uploads and more.

Taking place across eight Argentine host cities, this year's tournament will prominently feature Brazil and Argentina, soccer-mad nations who have won seven of the 19 FIFA World Cups and are talent factories of the best players in the world. Uruguay, Paraguay and Mexico are also stalwarts of the international soccer landscape, with an enviable pool of young talents. The list of players expected to compete is an all-star roster representing household-name professional teams, including Diego Milito (Argentina, Inter Milan), Robinho (Brazil, AC Milan), Diego Forlan (Uruguay, Athletico Madrid), and dozens more world class footballers.

Not to mention the player Argentines call "la pulga" ("the flea') - Lionel Messi. Messi is the two-time FIFA Player of the Year who has a list of honors and trophies, including this year's UEFA Champions League title. He is still only 23 years old (!) and looking to add a Copa to his résumé.

The three week competition starts on July 1, with Messi and Argentina meeting Bolivia in La Plata. To whet your appetite for great soccer, starting today on www.youtube.com/copaamerica you can find video from past tournaments, including great goals from the 2007 edition.

Precise touch passing, perfectly-weighted crosses, ball-glued-to-the-foot dribbling, artistic creativity and flair, thumping mid-air collisions, astonishing displays of speed and skill, and likely some controversial moments: all facets of the planet's most popular sport will be on display on Copa America 2011 on YouTube: don't miss it!

The worse thing is that Ukraine are there for the taking, Pearce needs to ignore Capello's style and take a risk here. try and play passing football, the players on the pitch are capable. We need to stop with long balls or risky through balls that bypass midfield, and actually build up. I agree about Mancienne, get a proper midfield in there FFS.
