I've got a mate who used to work in Moscow for a large luxury car brand. He had to go and set up a dealer network in all these horrible shitholes; he told me in a lot of places they were basically setting up a dealer for the exclusive use of the local oligarch and his mates, none of the locals had a prayer of affording their cars. He said it was always the same when the opened up in these places; the oligarch would pay the local army or airforce commander for a flypast or a parachute display, there'd be a massive opening party probably worth a years' car sales, and my mate would find a freebie hooker waiting for him back at his hotel.

Hah insane, gotta love how shit the other states are in Russia. Reading about Chechnya to still see its under a huge Russian military control is insane.

On the topic of the 'stans, Terek Grozny (Chechnya) are being coached by Gullit atm, who's on the verge of being fired for doing his usual bang up coaching job.
That club and the fat waiter look like a match made in heaven tbh, fat check while working and big payoff when it's time for the inevitable sacking.

Nope, United have barely scratched the transfer budget so far, even if Young comes we are only into under half of what the intended spend was. Goalkeeper and another decent midfielder for around £30 million combined, United will push the boat out if they can get someone young and world class for the midfield role though or even for someone young enough and vastly experienced like Wesley Sneijder. Sadly I think we need both him and Schweinsteiger to be really able to worry Barcelona for 90 minutes, we came up short bigtime in midfield again and it will keep on happening until we get a real powerhouse central midfielder. The only way we can afford all those players is to offload Nani and possibly Anderson though, Nani I can see moving because he moans alot but I would be sorry to see Anderson go because he hasn't hit his peak or close yet.

Nani still has inconsistancy and is a bit moaning. I predict rediculous wage demands will come up and as such he may well be seeing the door sooner or later.

I really would like to keep Anderson, think he got so much more to offer still and no matter how much some people dont see it, he brings alot to the team most matches he plays. More consistancy and slight improvement of level and he be quality for us.

Anderson looks pretty shit 70% of the time tbh. For someone who cost almost 30m and has been here 4 years i'd be very disappointed.

lol what? Anderson has cost us about £16 million bud.

It's an old argument, and one I can't be bothered with. We say Nani and Ando cost £35 million combined, the Portuguese clubs claim more. At the end of the day, if you believe Fergie paid even £20million for the lad, then you are deluded.

Well, he did pay 30m for Berbatov and 8m for Bebe :p so wouldn't be surprised !

It seems to me that Man Utd don't care much about Barcelona, Young & Jones for a collective fee of about 30-40m.. they really are not going to help much at all are they?

Let's just hope they have the extra 30-50m (at least) to buy a quality who will REALLY matter..

If Hiddink goes back to Chelsea, I would be very surprised if they failed to win the Prem.

BBC Sport - Aston Villa intend to interview Alex McLeish as manager

There will be murder if this happens. From both sides.

He'd be an idiot to take the job. The fans would be on his back from day one and the knives would be out for Lerner and co for hiring the useless twat as well. Serious lack of ambition and understanding of the fans happening at Villa Park.

I don't think Lerner and co would recognise a good manager until he walked out a few days before the season started. Oh...

Not going to help? We totally lacked a hardworking hardtackling midfielder against Barcelona, Jones fits that bill if that is where he ends up. Young gives us a real injection of pace on the left, middle or right. In gives us options, something we totally lacked against Barcelona because our central midfield were awful, our best defensive midfielder has been injured for 2.5 years and we never replaced him. Both players are a move in the right direction. Now we need to add the quality, that has to be Wesley Sneijder or someone of that class. Tom Cleverly and Ravel Morrison are great prospects but next season is too soon for them imo, Cleverly needs to be eased into the side as we did with Scholes and Butt.

The Mirror

Sanchez is being bartered around by Udinese, who wanted £30 million but are now under pressure to take less both by United and their South American star’s camp.

United have now gone in hard and official for Sanchez - despite City sending a two-man delegation of Garry Cook and Brian Marwood to Italy over the past few days.

City were hoping to blow all of the other bidders out of the water with an offer, but they have been told again that Sanchez prefers to go to the red half of Manchester.

The gifted and speedy star wants to go to United as he believes he has a better chance of a game than he would at Barcelona who have been on his trail for weeks.

Still find it amusing people ratting on Bebe, he's a young kid in a foreign country. The opportunities he's had so far are no where near a reflection on his actual potential to be a star.

As I've said before people from these boards said Nani wasn't good enough for united Yet he stepped up to the plate last year.

This was posted by a fan on a Villa forum in the thread read by General Krulak, Lerner's right hand man at Villa. Not my post but have to say I agree with a lot of it.

General,

The people who run this club are an utter disgrace. At what point does a manager who has relegated his side twice in three years become good enough to manage us? What is all this rubbish spouted by the club about him being the best candidate? WHO THE HELL is making these decisions? From the outside it looks like your all a bunch of F*$$**g muppets.

You have turned us into a laughing stock. Sky sports news earlier reported it has cost us £20 million to replace Houllier with Mcleish. Who the F*c* gave Mr Houllier (A man with a serious heart condition) a three year contract? Knowing that if the old fool did get ill we would have to pay him and his backroom staff millions of pounds?

£20 million to replace Houllier with Mcleish. A terrible, terrible excuse for a manager who plays terrible football and will no doubt have us scrapping for relegation.

If we'd spent all that money replacing Houllier with a decent manager then fair enough, but Mcleish?

You can shove your F*****g season ticket up your arse. I aint renewing, and nor are the 3 people I sit with. But that doesnt matter does it, you get your precious TV money and the money from selling our best players year in year out so why the hell would you care about us fans?

Youve been in English football 5 years and you can come up with all these gimmicks like Tattoos on ankles but the world is starting to see that you havent got a god damn clue how to run and manage a football club.

Pack your bags and piss off back to America.

Fools.

If they go ahead and appoint McLeish I intend to return my season ticket with a letter of complaint attached. I'll cherry pick the games I attend instead next season. Absolute disgrace.

Made me laugh when a bloke called up TalkSport yesterday and said the Villa fans want Rijkaard. Really? He would be ten times worse than McLeish.

McLeish won the league cup though (before he got them relegated)

who else would want to take over that would be "good enough?"

it does occasionally seem theres a bit of a manager merry-go-round though

Nani was no where near as bad in his first season as Bebe has been..

He just needs to go out on loan for a while, to some league 1/championship team.. playing 2 senior games a season isn't going to help anyone..
