What with offloading half your decent players and employing a poor manager, I can't see Villa doing much next season.

Metro, he has been groomed by stylists to maximise his appeal to a worldwide female audience. It worked for Beckham, the money he makes from far-east promotional work is just obscene.

Some fap material for the liverpool fans from the supercoach Pep..“L'Acadèmia de Liverpool és l'únic que es pot comparar a ‘La Masia’ del FC Barcelona"

Liverpools academy is the only academy that can compare with La Masia

Of course, a lot of people (esp. non-Liverpoolers) whine at Rafa. But the reformation of the academy he did and the youth coaches he acquired (barca's coaches afaik :p) has been worth al the money alone basically! :p

And just like that it became apparent how much he actually knew about his own team, let alone football in general.

Definately, they have some decent youngsters but nothing outstanding, otherwise they would be pushing for first team starts.

I'd say Sterling and Suso are outstanding (neither of them broke through the entire way via the academy but if Barca can call anyone who has trained with them an own product so can we!)

And apparently both O'Hanlon and Sinclair which we signed (15-16 years) are very bright prospects.

And Wisdow, DCs never gets the pundits tho!

Has he heard of Ajax?

What he said was basically that in todays youth system Liverpool is the only club that can match Barca. He thinks that 20 players from Liverpool have the potential to be very good players.

He does not talk about history or how many players that have broke through the last 10 years :p

Then he is definately talking nonsense, you need only look at under 16's, under 18's and reserve team results to see they are no better than anyone else. United have every bit as much youth talent, as witnessed by the FA Youth Cup win. Blackburn Rovers have a fine crop coming through as do Chelsea, both sides won thier reserve leagues this year and Chelsea won the national reserve title. Arsenal and Everton have both won the Under 18's league in the last few years. If this Liverpool setup is so great where are the youth/reserve trophies to go with them? How many have broke through into the first team and stayed there for a couple of years?

No, no. As Marc rightly said, Pep is nuts. Liverpool have a good setup but he was just being kind to his old friends when he said they were the second best academy in the world. The facts tell a completely different tale.

Do u16/u18 results really say a lot though? youths are about potential, not really current ability :/ meh that's just me :p

Apparently Liverpool were very happy when Swansea won the Championship playoff, as it gives them a chance to play abroad next season....

Not gonna argue, as we will not see who is correct until about 5 years :p
Instead maybe look at the youth national team setups :)

Take a look at Barca's youth team results from the last 20 years. They never win anything.

I don't understand how Henderson is going to fit into our team :S ..

Lucas, Meireles, Gerrard, Spearing, Shelvey, Poulsen, Aquilani and Henderson..

Aquiliani looks like he is off (which is a shame because I really wanted to see more of him :( ).. and probably Poulsen..

Spearing was really good in the second half of the season though, so hopefully we won't sell him yet, and selling Shelvey would be stupid.

lol are you having a laugh? Of course it says alot, many of those lads are with the club since 11 years of age, if they aren't winning trophies against thier peers then it clearly indicates that level of coaching certainly isn't better. As for PA/CA go back to FM2011 mate, this is real football we are talking about.

There is no arguement to be had, Pep is being kind to his friends but it doesn't reflect the reality of the situation. Chelsea and Arsenal both have more potential in thier youth squads than Liverpool, potential is not everything though and as I said earlier I put alot of stock in young players playing for thier local club, invariably they end up over-performing because of thier love for the club. Alan Smith and Nicky Butt would be classic examples. Those young Scousers at you club love Liverpool and will push themselves beyond the line to help the cause, as United have proven before, you can succeed against the odds if you have fire in your belly. That is not what Pep was talking about though, he was talking about the setup his mates have put in place but has he been to Arsenal/Chelsea/United and looked at their academies as well? Doubt it.

Ok but look at the players who have come out of the academy in the last 20 years. Then look at Liverpool over the same period. Yes the guys running it now haven't had a decade but you have to go on what they are doing right now and it is no more impressive than any of the top 4. Sorry if you disagree but man for man they are no better than United or Blackburn at that level currently and your own club have a very good bunch of under 18's as well.

 We are football. Many managers use our DB as a scouting tool, and we've predicted many a superstar.

Yep, youths do not progress at all, they stay the same for their entire life.:(

No such thing as POTENTIAL :|

Just because a player is good at 15/16 years old does not mean he will become the next Messi.

According to the wires at work Rueters are reporting it as "Guillermo Ochoa, defenders Francisco Rodriguez and Edgar Duenas and midfielders Antonio Naelson 'Sinha' and Christian Bermudez"

named by general secretary of the Mexican Football Federation (Femexfut) Decio de Maria
