It's a pointless buy for them, I'm sure they've promised him a lot, but I feel that his development will stall there. He needed to come to England or stay in Germany. He'd actually get games and lots of them at Man Utd, Chelski, Arsenal, and have good players to learn from without having too much competition for places.

Might be a load of crap but i have read Arsenal do not approach Transfers as Arsenal. They have a middleman agree the fee with the club, then the player gets told it is us to agree the personal terms. We have been doing it for a while to try and stop inflated prices due to the fact we are a premiership club.

I had the same thought. Some people suggested its how we got Silvestre from your mob but I maintain its because you knew he was shit.

I can undertand how the middle man approach might work when approaching lower league clubs or lower league foreign clubs.

Well 1st weekend down, nerves settled ect. How do you feel it went for your team? better/worse than expected or about what you predicted.

He'd served us well and needed to play more football, I didn't see any issue with that transfer.

I can undertand how the middle man approach might work when approaching lower league clubs or lower league foreign clubs.

Also suspect most the higher clubs have the resources and links to find out if another major is sniffing around.

Chelsea did better than I thought considering the friendly games leading up to WBA game, although I'll wait a little while to see if we can maintain our performance esp against the other major teams.

No real challenge from Newcastle, a good display from all. Bit weary of the free header Carrol had though.


The real test for Man utd and Chelski will not come until we play more established teams.

Frustrating first game for Sunderland. We had 100% control of the game untill Cattermole got himself sent off (the fuckwit). Played some very nice football and I can see why we've sold Jones, Bruce is aiming at playing more of an attractive game and with Campbell and Bent upfront (plus one big striker set to sign this week) we have pace to threaten most defences.

WBA Away on Saturday and after last seasons woefull away form I hope Mr Bruce has some plans to turn it around and make us much better away.

Going to be a tough game as its their first since they were promoted and The Hawthorns will be rocking. Looking forward to the season ahead, new signings all look to be a big step up on what we had last year.

Well 1st weekend down, nerves settled ect. How do you feel it went for your team? better/worse than expected or about what you predicted.

Couldnt have went better, solid win against a team we aim to be above, Jelle Van Damme looked a class above, an absolute bargain of a signing there, Fletcher looked deadly also, a 4 or 5 goal haul would not have flattered us. We look much stronger then last year, and have a stronger squad depth with more to come back.

Overall gave me a positive feeling that we can better a 15th place finish.

West Ham were worse than I expected, Villa played O'Neill's formation, O'Neill's strategy, O'Neill's players, they were motivated by O'Neill going and now our dense as black hole fans think Kevin MacDonald should have the job full time.

I was pleased with way chelsea started but have a strange feeling we will get a shock vs wigan. We played them last game of season and won 8-0, Blackpool just beat them 0-4 so sods law says they batter us lol
