Well we can all agree that the PL just isn't the strongest league in europe anymore. LA liga just by passed them.

Just wait till Barca gives Arsenal a big time spanking and if man utd draws barca.. they will be outplayed again like a 16year old school squad. Just reality.

Oh and man city is the most pathetic team so far this season. This kind of play against arsenal? Seriously, that was PATHETIC this evening.

Corn owned you.

Corn I can't rep you yet - but I will, a big massive rep.

Calo; you don't seem to understand the concept of a strong league.

Looked like Pienaar was lucky last night with that botched freekick he did. I half thought "god, this guy is gifting Tottenham a goal because he wants to join them at the end of the season!"

Hopefully we can stick to the new formation for the moment since the old one wasn't quite working for us, time will tell i guess...

"Strong" and "competitive" aren't quite the same thing. Domestically the Prem looks competitive with five top teams and a narrow spread between top and bottom, but that's obviously because the top teams are weaker rather than the others catching up. In Europe, the Spanish top two just seem to be miles ahead of the rest, including the Prem teams. In a knockout anything can happen, but betting against Barca for another CL win is a mug's game.

yes, but 2 strong teams does not = 1 strong league.

when everyone says that barca/madrid would walk away with the league even if the other teams all combined so you could make a best XI out of them all you know there is a serious lack of strength in the league

But what defines a strong team then?

Because I would easily call Sevilla, Villareal, Valencia and Atletico Madrid strong teams as well. I won't compare it to the english league as I hardly ever watch it though, however it's also easy to see that most people in here doesn't watch la liga at all.

Corn that was a thread winning post. Well said. Surely a league must be judged on its competitivity, and strength in depth?

England - Spurs, United, Chelsea, Arsenal, City are top sides, with Everton/Pool/Bolton/Sunderland making decent and the rest filling up
Spain - Barca, Real are top sides with Valencia, Sevilla and maybe Villarreal decent, the rest are shite.
Germany - To many teams to fucking name.

Germany = winner.

I have not watched a whole lot of Bundesliga tbh, but the few games I have watched has been so much better than PL lately :p (esp. as a Liverpool fan! ;p). An open an attacking minded league.

Leon Best for England :england:

5-0 hah. Just a pity noone at work supports West Ham :(

Some very strange results last night, and I'm amazed there hasnt been a sacking yet today given how trigger happy pre league boards seem to be these days

Lollerpool; The squads fucked, there ins't a top manager out there that can come in. Dalglish will fail horribly, although it would be funny to see :) The board know that Hodgson is not working, but they can't turn to anyone unless they offer them massive funds to rebuild.

Chelski; Ancellotti looks out of his depth, but I feel he's been forced into squad reductions he wasn't happy with, not to mention Wilkins sacking. The squad and the manager seem unhappy and the board seem to be writing this season off as a transition. They can't sack Carlo because a new manager will want funds that Chelski clearly aren't happy to spend.

Fergie called it a year too early; Chelski are old and there is no plan B. In addition its now obvious that Uncle Fester was a lot more important to the Chelsea setup than everyone realised.

The whole Liverpool thing has passed from funny to tragic. I like Uncle Woy (and a new manager won't be able to fix anything this season), and while I'll always detest Liverpool, it depresses me to see a great side brought low (but for the grace of God etc....)

Considering chelski have basically ruined the rest of his life; I don't blame him. He's clearly a troubled individual. Next candidate for a footballing suicide imo.

Didn't he ruin his own life by being a Junkie? Now he is being a cock and looks to be further ruining his own life by fucking about a club that was willing to give him a chance. No sympathy for him whatsoever. He is has thrown away a privileged career and life style for the sake of a few lines of coke.

The guy is an idiot and deserves everything he gets.

A few lines of coke hardly makes anyone a junkie though does it :p

No offence but he did it to himself.

He sued himself for more than he's likely to earn in his life did he?

Yeah we also shoved the cocaine up his nose as well, then we breached his contract with us on his behalf and just to add to it we paid off all the various people involved in all the different appeals he has tried and failed at.

PS We also made sure he got caught for drugs again in the most recent case.

Hasn't he called everything at one point or another, Chelsea have just hit a slump mixed in with injuries and one we don't seem able to get out of but I would also suspect some backroom issues as well.

A normal club would have tried to help the guy out and rehabilitate him, not kick him to the curb and then sue him for a ridiculous amount.

Yeah sure all other clubs would, just evil Chelsea didn't....least it gives some sort of weak excuse to use against Chelsea.

PS It also probably won't make much difference that he still hasn't paid it yet.

My point is there is a fair few examples of footballers in our league that have suffered from addictions whether they were drugs/drink/gambling but they atleast received help and advice from their respective clubs.

They would have gained far more from trying to help the guy out, and they would have been able to sell the guy on at the end of it all and make back some of the cash.
