1657: Mark Hughes shakes hands with former Manchester United team-mate Steve Bruce - will that be his last act as City boss? He isn't smiling, which might be something do to with an apparent 1930 GMT announcement at Eastlands. Will try to get more on that asap.

Taken from BBC.

Was on Sky Sports earlier, Sky Sports News.

Plus the BBC have said also:

1708: We are 99% certain that Manchester City will be releasing a statement at about 1930 GMT. I'm not going anywhere until that statement arrives. Stay tuned.

United were fucking useless today. :( The only thing that could raise a slight smile was Liverpool losing but it is cold comfort to be honest.

Apparently Mancini has been seen in Manchester today as well.

Man City have the same problem they have had for 3 years now, a shit defence. I wonder how many of the purchases were Hughes choices?

ESPN are reporting that a man city source has confirmed Hughes has been sacked, and that Mancini has been given the job on a 3 year contract.

Mad moment in the Arsenal game Nasri kicked out and a mass push fight starts :) Could have seen Nasri and Barmby sent off and it looks like Hunt started some trouble in the tunnel

Nasri was a total tit there, and could have caused issues for both teams. Lucky for everyone the ref just gave yellows, but it's spicy out there now. Who do you think will see a red card first?

How are Arsenal winning this game?! Good freekick, but it was never a foul. Also Nasri should have been sent off, dirty little prick. A referee favouring a Sky Four team? Surely not!

Tough game for Villa today. Stoke had a week off whereas we had two difficult away games in three days and it showed. We only played in patches, but in those patches we could have scored a hatful.

But Stoke came into the game much more in the second half and made a real game of it, either side of Carew's goal from Ashley Young's wondercross.

Very happy with the three points and the continued excellence of Milner in midfield. Richard Dunne is looking the signing of the season though, what a defender. Mark Hughes deserves the sack just for letting him go.

Here's hoping Hull can fight back and take a draw at the Emirates, would be very nice to be above Le Arse when we go there in a few days.

Nasri is bloddy lucky the ref did not see that, and i think Hunt for first red.

How can the ref send him off when he and the two linesmen both said they did not see it Nasri and Hunt got booked for the handbags after.

Yeah, but they are hardly out of the hunt for 4th place. It's ridiculous as City are on course for a top 6 finish, which is progress.

I'd only give Mancini a season, doubt he will be able to do much more than Hughes did.

Brian Kidd as Mancini's assistant - that at least makes some sense.

All confirmed

1831: BREAKING NEWS: Manchester City have confirmed the sacking of manager Mark Hughes, and announced the appointment of Roberto Mancini as his replacement.

Also Barcelona just won their 6th trophy of the season. Shame they couldnt win the champions league fairly though :p (bitter much?)

Considering the form of the rest of the league, i cant help but think a better manager would have City standing strong in the top 4 right now.

Right!

So how many Man City players are gonna be transferred off?

Hopefully we can get Jo and it would be hilarious to get Lescott back at a super cut price deal!

Doubt they'll sell any players until the close season, but they would appear likely to go and splurge some money in January. But which quality player would want to go and play in a midtable team? Please tell me they're not all motivated by filthy lucre.

I think part of the reason behind signing Mancini is he's a bit of a name and would have better luck at bringing in players than Hughes.

do you really think they need more players though? I think they need to cull and get some consistency.

So.... upson, hangelaand? Or bring dunne back in? I agree lescott or toure needs to go, they seem incapable of playing together. I'd say richards and bridge are good enough though.
