On another note, La Liga is going to be more boring than ever. The last glimmer of a challenge from the rest of the clubs will be completely gone and the conversion to a sunny SPL is complete.

Looks like the market prices have gone back down to normal. David Villa is easily one of the best strikers in the world so other players shouldnt be costing much more than him.

He appeared to have a reluctance to leave Spain though, which would affect the teams competing for his signature hence affecting the price too.

I think we'll see Man City spending much bigger bucks than that this summer.

Theyr changing the league system for the 2012 season, adopting an EPL model with a totally new model for the tv rights, so the smaller clubs can perceive more funds. Hopefully.

If not, its trully a SPL, with an Euroleague champion tho.

Probably helps that valencia has slightly dodgy finances still so that will help them greatly.

50% tax rate means only City and Chelsea will be able to afford the really big names from now on, that might not be a bad thing for our league in the long run though as most of us are sick of overpaid mercenarys anyway.

I was having a convo today with a united and a liverpool fan who was giving the usual stuff about chelsea buy success and area team of mercs ect. But it got me thinking, United star player left for sunny climates and more money, Liverpools stars being tempted this very moment, arsenals is as good as packing and so on. When we come to chelsea how can we really be mercs when our star players stay with us?. Truth is EVERY team wants a sugar daddy and EVERY team ahs its share of loyal and money grabbing players!

This Rant came to you directly from the Abramovich Brainwash class 101!

we won the league when we spent loads, then we stopped and man utd spent loads and won the league, then nobody spent loads but man utd sold and we won the league. you can easily plot wins alongside spending for a long time, it's pretty much the same everywhere with a few exceptions.

also talivar, we have a retarded wage list compared to other clubs

we've clearly been attempted to reduce our wage bill anyway, hence slow contract renewals with ballack/cole/anelka.

some of it sickens me, deco and ballack are both on bout 100k a week each :/

I am actually one of the people who is happy to give Chelsea due credit, they won the league with some good football this year and didn't go mad in the transfer market to do it, infact the last few seasons they have been far more sensible and are least trying to make it a buisness that will break even over time. Hats off to them for that.

As for mercs, Tali you must admit that although they are staying with you there is a damn good reason why, your club pays on average 30% higher wages than any other club in the league. Money buys loyalty these days, I am not blaming Chelsea for that as it is the same everywhere but you do have a few more mercs than most at the moment.

As for refering to Ronaldo in the same paragraph as mercs, sorry but that is just plain fucked up bias and hate. Ronaldo was at United a long time. He won us 3 league titles, a European Cup, a World Club Cup and numerous minor trophies. The lad owed us nothing, he was loyal to the end and that is why we commanded a world record transfer for fee for him, as much as he wanted to goto Madrid he made sure United got every single penny he was worth. The lad is deservedly a fucking legend at United and I wish him all the very best, every success as long at it isn't at our expense. :)

Deco is off to Brasil soon according to most of the rumours, but yeah it is ridiculous - especially when players at 29/30 get large and long contracts.

Any player would have to be certifiably insane to turn down the pay deal Ronaldo got from Madrid.

By the way, the more I think about it, the less sense this whole Fabregas situation makes.

Why would Barcelona need yet another central midfielder? One that is going to cost a ridiculous sum of money? Who would you bench to fit him in?!

Why would we sell a player who is heavily relied upon, while he still has FOUR years left on his contract?

Makes no sense!

Please don't go, Cesc :<

Barce buying Cesc is a PR stunt at this point they don't need him.

I have no interest in signing Yaya in a swap deal i would rather see Song make the role his own.

Like i said before im hoping this "Sort my future before the world cup" comment is about a contract extension he has been offered. If he signs that it puts and end to the transfer speculation this summer.

But he didn't screw United to get it, thats my point. He hung on, made sure we got a great price for him rather than run down his contract or sulk and force us to sell him.

If Lescott is worth £23m then we'll probably not settle for a penny less than £30m. Would be funny if Milner went to City and took Barry's place.

That said I doubt Milner will want to go, and we'll not want to sell -- Milner is Lerner's favourite player.

I'd only imagine Milner going if Utd, chelski, or Arse came in for him. Or Barca, Madrid or the like. He'd command £25 million minimum. Why would he move sideways? If you are a good player, you trade up. Uefa cup > Champs league and the chance of a title challenge.

I'd also understand why Milner would want to go if a champs league team came in for him, but if he does a Barry I will loose all respect for him.

Barcelona dont "need" Cesc right now, but in the future he will be a star for them.
At a time where Cesc has come out and said much more publicly that he wants to return there, and the following rumours he hadnt decided what he was to do but wanted it sorted by the world cup then it is a very good time for Barcelona to come in with an offer.

Interesting little thing I heard on the grapevine today, United considering offering Carrick and £12 million in exchange for Milner. I wouldn't be totally suprised at that, I know Fergie has all but lost patience with Carrick's lack of drive and with Hargreaves looking finished he needs someone dynamic in the middle. Milner would fit that bill pretty well.

There would probably be a bigger chance of villa accepting it, without getting carrick on their wage list :p

Dont say that, the reincarnated Dorimor that is back yet again will be here bitching at you for that! Surely you know that if villa get Carrick that means they will win the premier league for the next 3 years!

BBC Sport - Football - Manchester City make £20m bid for Villa's James Milner

Oh do fuck off Shitty you absolute *****.

It's not like they need any more midfielders, this is City using underhand tactics - destabilise opponents in the top half of the league by making bids for their top players, buy top players from your competitors even if they will not play.
James Milner is a top young player and would get in the City team. You're just upset because you want him to go to Man Utd. I want him at Chelsea :p

Of course I am, but City's buying policy is ridiculous. I still stand by what I said.

From the beeb:

Aston Villa have turned down Manchester City's £20m bid for their England international James Milner.
"We have received an offer from Manchester City for James Milner and this has been firmly rejected," said a Villa spokesman on Wednesday.
"We plan to sit down with James and his representative after the World Cup to agree a new long-term deal and this remains our position.

Ofc they would sack me pretty fast but thats beside the point!. Im not bias either, i would have castrated john terry and put him in the chelsea female team.

You have forgotten something though.... the power is in the players hands.

Basically you can agree to sell him to grimsby for £1, but if the player does not want to go then you cant force him as he just will refuse to sign any contract they other.

I agree with the Terry plan! But i think the female team be upset that the team been made worse :D
