Yeah, that's cause you don't have half of them out with injury. I was hoping for a double, wiped out aoamis last week and you this week :(

Jesus that ref is really liking City this game, 6 yellows to Liverpool ?? 3 of those are extremely harsh, especially the 6th for Torres. However Marcheranos prolly should have been sent off for that challenge on Barry... What a shit game :)

No way in hell Heskey should be near the England squad.

Rubbish. His fellow pro's love playing with him, and I'll take their opinion over a plastic fans any day of the week.

Anyway, onto the game. Was a bit worried in the first half today we took an age to get into our stride. However once we did Burnley just couldn't live with us. Was especially nice that all of our four second half goals were taken in front of the North Stand where I sit. Thought Heskey's goal was the pick of the bunch, good run and cross from Gabby and a very tidy finish into the corner.

The media, as is their way, have written us off for fourth place because of three draws in our past few games. The fact that these include draws against Spurs, Arsenal and Man United seems to be lost on them. I'd say we are well in the fight for a top four finish, with very little to choose between all of the sides up there.

Hi I'm Turamber, and I'm right because I spend money on going to games, anyone that doesn't can't comment.

Wake up call mate, you don't have to go to games week in week out to have an opinion, you can see far more football from home.

Anyway when you stop being an elitist twat with claret and blue love googles on, let us know.

Heskey brings more to the side then a tv camera shows however. Not a plastic fans stab, you just see and read more at a game, you see the buildup all around the field rather then the bloke who has the ball.

ohh, while were kinda on the subject of england (puts on biased goggles) does anyone else think leighton baines deserves a call up?

Obviously cole is injured, and bridge is an auto replacement for him, but i generally think baines is a better player then bridge, and could bring more to the england side.

anyway, that my opinion hehe

Indeed. Plus you're less distracted by the need to have a cup of tea, or the pizza delivery man arriving.

And Ch3tan anybody can have an opinion, and everyone has one. However not all are worth listening to.

Baines is a decent player, offers more defensively than Bridge for sure.

I'd have Baines over Bridge too.

When has anyone in the England squad ever said Heskey is useful? It's simply stupid that we need to have 2 players to make 1 world class foward, especially if you look at the other teams we're playing against.

Play Rooney in the right way and give him proper supply from the wings then you don't need Heskey. The problem is that England often play very narrow or with wingers can't cross for shit, Rooney ends up coming deep for the ball or having to stay central and wait for a through ball from the middle. Both are highly predictable and that is why England won't win a thing, they need a couple of wingers who can cross with accuracy and the only one we have doesn't have the legs to beat any decent fullback.

6-2 eh? Nice result and Ronaldo continues to deliver. :) 18 goals in all competitions now and how many games did he miss with injury?

Almost 2 months and he returned just before the 2 week christmas break :worthy:

Is it just me or, but isn't La Liga extremely boring to watch at times? I like a good defense as much as a good offense. I still haven't seen a good defense in La Liga this year :<

Heskey's game doesn't just help Rooney, he (and Barry) are the key to getting the best out of Gerard and Lampard. His hard work and ability to hold up play and feed other players is exceptional. Quite why people have started with their demands to change a winning England team after he put in a good performance yesterday beats me.

But I guess if you don't play for one of Sky's favoured children then a player must be shit.

I do not know if Hesky should be in the England squad but i do know i would take him at Arsenal till the end of the season. If i had to pick i would send Bobby Z on form alone.

The problem isnt the defenses. The real prob is that Barca n Real are so inmerse in their own fight year after year, expeding huge amounts of money cuz theyr the only teams able to collect incomes from marketing and such, while the rest of the team are suffering from the poor financial managment of the tournament, that La Liga is slowly going into Celtic vs. Rangers scottish league mode :(

You misunderstand me bud, Heskey helps us win in a certain way that we would be unable to do otherwise. I am not a hater, he does a job for England and that is all I care about.

Aoln said we should play 4-5-1 but that will not work for two reasons, we have no quality delivery from the wings (unless you play Beckham and then you sacrifice pace on the break) and Lampard/Gerrard all too often make the same runs into the same space ruining good chances and making it easy for the oppostion to contain. For that formation to work you need Beckham on the right and either Lampard/Gerrard must be sacrificed. Even then we totally lack a left foot that can deliver crosses with quality, it is the one thing that costs us at every tournament because we are totally predictable in our approach play.

I think defense is a big problem too. Watch RM or Barca at home and teams like Sporting Gijon think they can outplay RM/Barca, and usually ends up with 6~ goals against them. I would like to see RM/Barca playing Stoke etc who puts 11 men behind the ball rather than 1 defender and 1 goalie, rest attacks!

I see the same thing watching Valencia/Ath. Madrid etc too. People think they can win by just attacking.

Don't fancy Young on the left? He does seem like a form player from what i have seen though.
