That is exactly what I thought aoln, Arse were on a high and would probably have won on current form. Now they have that game in hand hanging over them and aren't 2nd and a point off you going into the next premier league weekend.

What have they done?

You sound well bitter about your enormous debts :p

Same as you lot, magic'ed the loans into thin air and called it 'equity'. :p

Oh and of course I am bitter, United never had a penny of debt until those ugly fucking ginger munchkins came over from the states and loaded us up to the gills. In 15 or so years as a PLC we made profits hand over fist but now these abortion merchants are slowly killing the club I love with massive debt repayments.

Does seem strange that Manchester United, the premier league dominating corporate behemoth could be completely fucked quite soon :d

But its not a 'fiddle', it is turning the debt into equity. Every company in the world has done it at some point.

It is a fiddle, they are just loading the debt onto the value of the company. You seriously telling me that City are now worth £700 million? It is all bollocks to dodge the new UEFA rules, using rich owners to hide the debt as equity when infact those owners still consider it a debt that has to be repaid at some point in the future.

If I say a humbug is a boiled sweet does that mean it is no longer a humbug?

Equity and debt are two completely different things, and there is no way of getting around it. If I loan you £10 I want it back. If I say keep it, then I'm making an investment in lesbian porn.

I wouldn't want to get into arguments over how much a company is worth but UEFA would be on very thin ground if they decided to value each and every club taking part in their competitions. Company valuations are far from routine, they get argued over at Court every day, and those arguments in some cases can go on for months.

Portsmouth have been a mess for a long long time. Admittedly, the arabs didn't help, but it was always going to happen before long.

There situation is very similar to ours, but has played out very differently. We build a new stadium, which was a massive risk, because the dell was falling apart. The plan backfired because we got relegated, and as a result lost out on loads of money and couldn't fulfill Rupert Lowe's 5 year plan to pay off the new ground.

Pompey on the other hand havn't been able to build a new stadium, so aren't making half as much money as they should be. The bought well beyond their means when traitorous cuntbag redknapp was in charge and are now paying the price.

It'd be a real shame to see our rivals go under, because the atmosphere in the city on derby day is just like nothing else, it's fantastic.

I think it's a bit harsh to blame the current owners, if they hadn't stepped in then the club would be gone by now. Although I do wonder how the league can allow clubs to transfer hands without proof of funds being in place.

Also, it's official. Viera has signed an 18 month contract with shitty.

Chodax its not a fiddle. It just shows MC owners are serious about long term plans thats all.It is just a legal way of writing off the debt. Not all owners are greedy like yours and try to leech every penny from the club they own :(

Tali I don't disagree with much of what you say but all of a sudden clubs are using this to get around the incoming UEFA rules, it might be legal but to me it is immoral because the owners still expect that money to be repaid however they are saying different in public.

According to local newpapers here in UAE, Mansour has purchased another 143 Million USD worth of shares in the club. He is also converting the Shareholder loans 487.9 Million USD he made to the club into equity.

They posted a loss 148.12 Million USD in year ending May 31st 2009, the largest annual loss ever reported by an EPL team. This does not include the 187 Million USD spent on Adebuyme, Toure, Tevez, Lescott and Cruz.

Turnover up 6% to 139 million USD and player salaries rose from 40.6 to 63 Million USD.

Go City! What a way to run a business!

People say its not a scam but next year when they make another loss of say £40mil due to not being able to afford the wage bill, the club will then be worth another £40mil so they don't post a debt? It seems like a massive scam to me but whatever its not like Uefa would have had the balls to do anything anyway.

It is a book fiddle really albeit a legal one. The problem only arises when they audit properly or try to sell and find the assets are worth half what they had on the books.

Yep its a legal fiddle but it benefits everyone BUT the owners. Each time they do it it makes the true value of the club and its shares drop making it much harder to sell later on. So in effect its kinda using the money to buy the club on a perma basis. Its a long winded way of being able to spend your own money to buy players and not the clubs money. If you intend to stay with the club forever its a great thing but if u intend to sell later on its a very stupid thing.

To me it shows commitment and re-afirms the fact the owners intend to stay unlike whats happened with the rich arabs at portsmouth :(

No, there isn't really a "problem" as such. But when the owner sells up he may realise less for his asset than his investment in the share capital.

Not specifically related but when Ken Bates famously bought Chelsea for a £1 he paid massively over the odds as the company had a negative Balance Sheet, despite the size of its Share Capital.

Arsenal match could be off the pitch is fine but seemingly the footpaths ect round the stadium are dodgey.

Wenger wants the match to go ahead he is worried about form dropping off if we keep missing games.
