Playing it in a beta nowdays, I got to say it has the best PvE I've seen to day in a MMOG.

I don't like PvE in games, but it's funny to play Starship Troopers like, I am considering buying the game and playing it with the hope that one can get some good PvP later on.

I am sold on this, PvP-clans can attack each other everywhere. Game launching in 1,5 weeks, you can still try the beta until this Friday if interested.

I had a go on the beta of this (nothing else to do with no WAR beta account ), and my only issue with the beta was the community and lack of interaction with other players. Been told that's been addressed however. While it's not my thing, i don't much enjoy sci-fi fps style, i'd reccomend people give it a look.

While the back story isn't exactly ground breaking, the game play is smooth, with a nice difficulty curve (ie not too easy), and the game is just a very good mmo with a fps look. Didn't have a chance to PvP on there sadly so i can't give a perspective on that.

From what i have read, theres only 1 EU server... and if you have bought the EU version of the game. You have zero choice.

Shite video, talking fast doesn't make one having a point. Not sure if it's even about TR, too much WoW-bullshit in there and the FPS/MMORPG arguments are just silly, TR has nothing to do with a FPS, it doesn't even provide a first person perspective.

Beta for me was excellent, even at the kill General British with hundreds of players running around in visible range I had no network latency what so ever.

As for Counterstrike? What has not liking PvE to do with it?

Will have a clan running today on the Euro server, I'll post name of clan and contact persons later today if you're interested, we're 3 so far with beta experience and have forums and teamspeak running. Clan will have a PvE and a PvP wing.

his orange box review was quite complimentary too but yes he is a critic and is somewhat critical of things

(plus he doesn't like MMOs, so not really a good baseline to take to compare if you do like MMOs...)

it IS an fps. its point and shoot, F or 3rd PS is a moot point. The wow arguement is a valid one, everyone is ripping it off in one way or another now.

"I DONT LIEK PVE MEIGHTS" make you look like the tard i know you are: like to make it up as you go along "8v8 only plix" etc, elitist morons and what not saying you dont like pve in MMOs is like saying you dont like violence in games, its kind of the whole damn point they are there in the first place. You pve to get equiped to do end game stuff, its the whole DESIGN of MMOs, you want instant gratification PVP with no preperation time, ergo CS.

beta lag, the few people i know who played it all lagged to fuck all over the place, but as i said that may just have been a beta prob so i overlooked it.

And no, pve is not part of the MMO build, its just some are PVE, some PVP, some a mixture of both, DAOC had god awful PVE but it didn't really matter because you only had to do it for a short time to get to the real end game, the PVP. WOW's PVP is dire to say the least but the high end PVE is great.

MMO stands for Massively Multiplayer Online IT doesn't have to have PVE and it most certainly doesn't have to have elves in it, heck the only thing a game does have to have to class as an MMO is a persistent game world.

Back OT Read a review of this, it does look pretty good, cant really justify it at the moment though, just bought the Orange Box, Bioshock and a second copy of WoW

I also argue that most games these days require that you take a 'role', say as Gordon Freeman, Master Chief, Sonic....
The fact you are playing that role / character, is in my eyes, role playing

Role playing, and RPGs are differnt things though. The RPG side means playing a role, and adviancing the character usualy via the mean of xp and leveing. Thus making Fury an MMORPG

I still call it an MMO though, i think the RPG part was droped by alot of people a few years ago.


Back on topic, Nows the time to try TR for 'free' if you can. Pre order, get the email with the CD key, then cancel it if you dont like the game. Everyone likes differnt things, i know some people who think Fury is fun, what ever floats your boat n all that.

The problem that this game has is that it doesn't have the elfs and orcs etc.

Look at Auto Assault it tried to do something different and it failed ;/

Anarcy online was, i think, the first cyber punk MMO and its still going strong. Others that dont have elfs n goblins ect and are quite popular

Eve, Planetside, Starwars, Asherons call 1/2, Ryzom, City of X ect

You dont need fantasy setting to be popular. I for one how that Stargate worlds will be ace

the sword and sorcery ones always tend to sell better, not sure if thats due to EQ effect, or more people have read Tolkein and can relate to it better, whereas a totally alien world is harder to get enthused about

Not sure what to answer really, you sound quite clueless.

It's not point and shoot, you get autolock with the tab key while facing an enemy. You have no hit zones either, the Sniper class has called shots, but they have no meaning. The locking system is MMO style, sometimes you shoot through many enemies without a damage while you have someone autolocked in the back.

As for the PvE versus PvP thingy: Cry more you carebear noob. Not going to argue about it with you, I think I made it clear in my first two posts of the this thread what I mean.

No, the point doesn't stand, the only thing that stands is the idiot-o-meter, showing a high score for you.

There are a couple of MMOs where you don't have to do PvE at all if you don't want to do it (Guild Wars and EVE Online for example). Obviously one tries to keep both crowds happy, so you will not see a PvP only MMO game often.
