Why is it that ppl who play federation think they can't use cannons?

Because if the forums are anything to go by, most people are too fucking dumb to do a search, look for old threads, or to even type and breathe at the same time. /rant

But yeah, I've had cannons on all my escorts. I prefer beams, but not for statistical reasons, more for asthetics. Beams just feel 'right'.

I use a Science ship, so I can't use Cannons but it annoy's me because I tend to pick them up by the bucket load, so I have started a tidy business selling them on Exchange for face value not the massive price some people are selling them for, saw a Mark VI Phaser Cannon at 150K, they won't be able to sell that.

Greetings Lifetime Members!
We just wanted to thank you again for purchasing a Lifetime Subscription from us. As you already know, this entitles you to play the game without paying a monthly fee. But, that’s not where it ends. Later this month we’ll be releasing special perks for you, just to show our appreciation. Here’s some of what we’re working on, exclusive to Lifetime Subscribers:

Exclusive In-Game Chat Channel
Talk shop with other Lifetime Subscribers. Share thoughts and ideas about the game, or anything else.

Front-of-Queue Support
Waiting isn’t fun, and we don’t think you should have to do it. Any time the server is queued, you’ll go to the front of it.

In-Game Title
Visibly show off your support.

In-Game VIP Lounge
Spend time in an exclusive area inside the game. This social area is limited to Lifetime Subscribers only.

A Unique Costume Piece
Show off your lifetime status in style.

We’ll see you in-game, and thank you again!

Beaten by the Hawk. I'm not sure I'll be bothered by little touches but front-of-queue sounds good to me.

Agreed, I mean 'In-Game VIP Lounge' erm unless it has naked cage dancers I really don't see the point.

Queue stuff is great though :)

Anyway, that's just the starting list, if they're looking after those who have faith, I say good on them.

And where's MY bloody email!! *jealous*

Wonder if that's why the site is down, for the extra bandwidth to send out billions of lifetimer emails!

well no, cos you buy what is offered; ie

lifetime sub, borg officer, etc.. is the package. it didnt say anywhere "more free shit later" did it ?
the borg etc was the freebee for getting a lifetimer, dont see why people need more - tho i feel this is a direct "look what you lost out on" at all the people clammering for a refund.
random ingame stuffs i can pass up, but the queue jumping is outrageous. 2nd rate customers much :/

So I pay for VIP (read "lifetime") membership at my local club, to avoid the queues of riff raff, and then the club decide 6 months later to give VIP members a treat by holding a private party and not inviting non-VIP members (oh, and we get a goodie bag of designer stuff to take home and keep), and you're stood at the windows banging to be let in?

Get over it.

but the queue jumping is outrageous

And as for this, it was pointed out that have been very few queues recently. Oh, and just for completion - I've never seen a queue in ST:O (yet I STILL get them on Argent Dawn on WoW!)

not queueing to get in, queueing for support, which is what is says.

as i said, i dont care either way about free stuff, bridge officers, etc..but theyre giving you an improved -service- above and beyond what is being offered to everyone else, which isnt exactly fair.

but i wouldnt expect anyone benefiting from it to see the point, so nm

In 5 years of WoW, I think I've submitted 2 tickets. The only tickets in Star Trek I've raised are for bugs (fire and forget). Really, the improved service it speaks of has no relevance to me.

The extra goodies though... Happy days!

ofc if you dont need hte support thats fine, but ive spent many hours in many games in "please wait were dealing with other people" queues, and i wouldnt want to know that i was permenantly being pushed DOWN the queue by someone else

I think you're reading that wrong tbh. I think it's entry queue jumping, i.e. if the servers are overloaded, lifetime get priority.

Yeah, I took another look (still ain't got no mail though!) and it says -

Front-of-Queue Support
Waiting isn’t fun, and we don’t think you should have to do it. Any time the server is queued, you’ll go to the front of it.

So it may not be support queues - but yes, I see your point on the support side of things.

only if your a selective reader :)

but either way, that queue jumping wont actually do anything as there isn't any queues anymore, and probably never will be again.

Personally i think it's a lot of fuss over nothing, but this (above) is what a lot of people seem to be feeling and it's another poor move on Cryptics part....yet again they are alienating a section of their customers.

Cryptic really are fanning the flames with everything they do right now and really need to just let it all simmer down and knock it off with the promotions and instead concentrate on fixing the borked parts of the game.

Atari are once again offering $20 reduced offers, right now there is no reason why any potential new player would buy the game, as chances are next week there will be a better offer available than the one you opted for.
