I think my location is set to US, yet the billing options appear in sterling.... Did you go through to paypal to check if VAT was added or not?

Are people seriously interested in this one? Really?

Why not? The core game is fun, it's good enough to keep me entertained as it is and should hopefully get better, but if it doesn't, which is unlikely, it's still fun pvp and some solid pve.

As for the lifetime sub, im still umming and ahhing about that one ;)

need to test the new pvp though as apparently it no so fast and furious on the ground

you lucky bugger.

I fully expect a "bugger off" response to my request, but we will see. lol

edit:
Hmmm, wonder if it will work when paying by paypal if i stick on the cryptic site im in america. It takes me to paypal to charge me the £153.99 without a VAT charge on it.

May give that a try soon. lol

Not yet, but the sto website reckons I am in US, paypal only shows the charge without VAT. I'm holding off submitting yet, need to think about the finances a bit more.

Managed to get the gold edition from HMV for £24.99 and I am going to get a 6month card then decide weather to keep playing it. This is my first paid for MMO i've ever had an interest in, paying for and I may get bored and want to move onto another games especially as Guild Wars 2 is on the horizon.
Lifetime is a nice idea but I see it as money I cannot waste.

Yeah, i decided against the lifetime sub in the end, the freebies suck and i just don't see myself playing for 18 months right now.

Something to bear in mind.

If you buy the headstart, you get to begin on the 29th Jan, BUT if you buy from Steam or the Lifetime sub, you won't be able to activate your Trill/Borg until the 5th when the game retails in the EU.

Personally im rolling a sacrificial alt, get him to 6, and then get going with my Klingon alt, but still, it's a bit annoying :(

Incorrect.

If you get the Joined trill, you can not access it till retail.. this is because it linked to the retail key and NOT the preorder key. Reason for this is in CO people got preorder keys and canceled orders so the retailers lost out as people didnt buy the copies they preordered (only one of them) and still got the preorder that attracted them in.

HOWEVER

The BORG from the lifetime is playable in the headstart because this perk is directly under Cryptics control and so they can put it in from the headstart (this about borg being available direct from a Dev)

good good.

What ship are you going for? I love the escort and cant pull myself to get another ship.

It part the reason i thinking of lifetime. Let me have all the types of ships fully trained up without missing out elsewhere.

I've gone science, as I never ever go the support route usually. Although my ship looks mean enough to be an escort.

meh, I just leave open parties or kick people if they are over nerdy. Have a fairly healthy friends list from the week of open beta I have done, so lots of normal players there.

i have pretty much played solo so dont know many people there. at first was in groups but tbh most people were idiots that didnt understand that in beta you need to stop to report bugs and it ended up more hassle than not.

I've not actively sought out groups, but when they are an option it makes missions more fun. Space battles in particular are much more fun with 2+ of you against a larger number of enemy ships.

I'll be playing the retail game with 3 or 4 mates, so hopefully will not be doing much soloing at all.

Aye, i got muddled, too many threads on the official forums about all this. I should have said the borg officer from the Amazon pre-order, not the lifetime sub :)

aye, i turned of the auto group though for the fact idiots wouldnt give time to bug report. I miss half a mission due to needing to type (or get blown up due to thme pulling onto me) which made me give up.

Infact Sol and Sirus was hell full stop. So many people that dont know what 1) a map is
2) how to read a mission journal
3) how to not act like a prat

in sirius: [zone] random nub, ANYONE KNOW WHERE SS AZURA IS?!?!?!?!?!?!?

/facepalm

one thing i've learned tho, if your gonna fly a cruiser your pretty much all out of luck unless your a engineer. you REALLY need that rotate shield frequency, especially when your getting the galaxy... FUCK ME that thing turns slow, didnt meet one klingon that didnt have a problem staying on one shield arc....

Oh well, open beta has finished. Glad I got to do it for a week, I know to be more careful with some of my point spending and officer choices. Got another few days to practise with the head-start, as I will be re-rolling a joined Trill on retail launch. Or at least I think I will, depends how many hours I put in before then!

Will be a liberated borg myself. Still think I'll go tactical officer/escort.
