It's quite tiring playing Starcraft :p You do need to be focusing 100%. I ladder slightly drunk quite often, it really screws my win rate :p

My match history is always in series. Like 3 wins always get followed up by 3 losses, rince and repeat. This time I even lost to some dude that built a second base at start and made tons of BCs. Destroyed his base with drops early on, and was thinking to myself "hmm, this was a bit too easy"

It turned out it was :S

Did you maintain the streak? :)

I'm having so much problems lategame TvP. Splitting vs HT storms and sniping colossus, so high micro required way above what I can master :(

I think late game favors the Protoss quite a bit. Maybe you should be really aggressive with medivac drops throughout the game so you are nearly always a little ahead. I find the Terrans that thrash me usually do so because their drops do so much damage.

Yeah, I do try drop alot. Unfortunatly most of the protoss also make alot of base defence and stay there with their army all the time, negating the drop damage. Give you the chance to expand and eco build, but I'm having a hard time making that count when protoss gets his deathball rolling.

Maybe look at some pro streams? Demulsim seems to stream every day and is really good. You get to see how they have their hotkeys set up, where they are looking on the map, how they control their units etc. Maybe you can work out a better way of controlling the vikings/ghosts that way.

Thanks :) I do watch alot of streams (watching SC2 streams is almost as fun as playing and FAR LESS brain toasting). Watched alot of DeMuslim and Polt (best terran imo) and I've seen what they do, but it still requires a high level of micro that I've not yet managed to pull off the things they do, and I see many terran players, pros included, that have problems with protoss as terran. Changing to more marauder heavy composition seemed to have increased my performance, need to work on improving :)

All the terrans on my team (high master players) are complaining about protoss at the moment. Best not to worry about balance though imo. Focus on working on your mechanics and execution and you'll be able to beat your opponents eventually. Don't be afraid of something because it's too difficult. You become a stronger player by doing things that are out of your comfort zone.

Dreamhack this weekend! Shit gon be good. Artosis and Apollo casting combo

Zerg and Protoss dominating DH, even though everyone whines about terran being OP. A bit disappointed that Polt was eliminated so early :(

Been doing some laddering also and for some reason I got matched up vs diamond players (myself being gold). Was actually some pretty decent matches and I managed to beat one TvT, achieving close to 300 apm, which is very good for me.

If you're playing diamonds maybe you're up for promotion next season. The ladder is locked at the moment so it'll be resetting next week I think. I've been playing against GMs in about 1/4 of my games recently and beating quite a few of them so I think I'm getting pretty close. Not sure if I'll be able to make it in the upcoming season or not but I'll try.

Gonna still leenocks ultralisk build for ZvP too, looks fun.

Wow nice one Moose that's impressive. Do you ever get the odd match against pro players or do you have to be a high GM for that?

Yeah I hit WhiteRa the other day. Got raped. I've played vs a bunch of other pros on ladder in the past like Kas and NightEnd. I always get a bit starstruck and play worse than normal, especially if they are streaming. It's embarrassing lol. Massive loss streak this morning after making that "close to GM post" lol. Gonna have to rebuild my MMR a bit now ^^

So what race do you lot play? I play terran. Mostly becaused I used to play that in BW and I've always fancied the humanoid factions in RTS.

What terran openings to you hate to play vs Terran the most? I usually start with reaper + FE into bio play

Personally I'm OK against early agression vs Terran. Widow mine drops can be annoying if I'm not paying attention. My stalker always pops out a few seconds after an early reaper so I'm usually OK there.

I dislike terrans that safely fast expand and play a macro game while constantly dropping me. Also ones that have a really nasty two base timing attack (possibly with all SCVs) with stim. If I miss my forcefields it's GG.

Widow mine drops yeah, those can be fun. What about defending vs hellbat drops? Can be really annoying I reckon? I sometimes play too greedy and get punished by oracle harass

Yeah Hellbats are annoying. I always misjudge how many units are needed to kill them. The medivac makes them really hard to kill. They are quite slow though and can't kill buildings as well as marines/marauders can.

Defensive Widow mines are really good against Oracles. If you know one is coming put a mine in your mineral line and it will 1 shot the Oracle.

I always veto Star Station and now also Derelict Watcher (basically another Star Station). The green gloomy dark map is annoying also.

As for roaches, i'm not really sure as I dont play toss. But i've seen alot wall up front with forge and cannon and use sentries to ff block them

That sounds like the 7 roach rush. It's a 1 base all in. If you can defend it without taking much damage you should be quite far ahead. The way you defend it depends on whether you have opened gateway or forge expand.

The key is seeing it coming. You need to scout with a probe and see what he's doing. The keys to look for are gas and expansion timing. If there is no expansion started from the zerg by 3 minutes then he's probably planning some kind of early aggression. Scout his main and see if he's taken gas. If he's still on 1 base and has taken gas then there is a possibility of a roach rush coming; although it could also be ling baneling or just a speedling expand (I could go more into what the exact timings of gas can mean but I don't want to overcomplicate this for you and tbh the zergs you are playing probably aren't doing the optimal build orders). Hang around with your probe at his natural to see if he does like a delayed expand, if you don't see anything then it becomes more and more likely that hes doing a 1 base all in. If you can get a probe into his main and see a roach warren being made before he's expanded then that's pretty much a guaranteed roach rush; the risk of this is you lose your probe without seeing anything and then dont know whether hes expanded or is doing a 1 base all in. You can afford to pull another probe out though since you'll end up economically ahead of a zerg doing a 1 base all in as long as you keep making probes.

If you opened gateway cyber then your response should be to get sentries out ASAP. A wall in at the top of your ramp can be beneficial too, but most importantly you want to have sentries out so you can forcefield your ramp, preventing him from getting up there. Once you have enough sentries to keep him constantly forcefielded out (I think it's 4 sentries to constantly block 1 ramp) then you can start making other units to get ready to move out. Its probably best to go up to 3 or 4 gateways on 1 base so you have enough units to deal with him if he keeps making roaches. Another option is to get a robo and start making immortals (along with a total or 2 or 3 gates if you are on 1 base) since immortals rape roaches, and combined with forcefields from the sentries you have the perfect anti roach army. Stargate is also a reasonable follow up since obviously roaches can't shoot up. You can also use voidrays to cancel his expansion if he tries to expand. Once you've stabilized you can either try to kill him while you are on 1 base or you can expand and play out the game with an advantage. Each can be good depending on the situation; you'll start to work out which to do when you have more experience.

If you opened forge expand (either forge then nexus or nexus then forge) then you should've scouted the zerg with your probe that went to make the first pylon anyway (on 9 supply; this is to see early pools so you can get a cannon up in time). Once you've identified the no expansion and gas taken, you know that you will be ahead economically as long as you can defend since your expansion is already started: so all you need to do is hold! Normally you only make 1 cannon at this point vs a standard zerg player, but don't be afraid to make extra cannons here. You still want to start your gateway ASAP so that you can tech up to be able to get sentries and higher tech out eventually, but the main key to holding is having enough cannons. Cannons take 40 seconds to build which is roughly the time it takes to walk from one main to another on most maps so you can throw down extra cannons reactively if you see the roaches leave his base. Then you can follow it up with whatever kind of 2 base push you want and you should win.

I did Forge then Nexus expand. I think it was mainly the incredibly short distance on the map that took me way of guard :)
Will try to play a safer one base next time i face Zerg on that map and forcefield him out :)
