Had some fun duels on my merc but it was/is pretty few and far between - got boring really quickly dying to duo'd stealthers (95% of them) so I just thought fuck it, add on everything now except FG fights ;d pretty funny with my new cabalist/mincer duo.. nice rp / hours farming noobs

Used to be a thing that used to go around that if you solo'd and ignored fg fights then you wouldnt either get steamrolled by the grps you ignored when in fg v fg or your fights wouldn't get added on by them, I used to ignore fg v fg fights when i ran with my chanter solo, did i ever get this treatment happen to me? no, i would still get steam rolled by the FG's whos fights i didnt add on, or those FG's in my own realm whos fights i didnt add on, would then add on mine and claim i was stealing?

I think most people treat solo casters and meleers differently tbh, I have had plenty of FGs leave my minstrel alone in the past, but not my theurg, and I wouldn't expect them to either. Casters can kill most things a lot quicker with a lot less effort if they get a good jump, have a much better chance vs multiple enemies in general and can be much more of a threat if they decide to add on 8v8s, whereas solo meleers are usually in it for 1v1 fights.

adding is the ultimate reason daoc doesnt quite hit the high peaks of mmrpg heaven.

they got nice funny classes and races, an ultra intelligent combat system and like nice skills and items and the way you do your characters with templates and cool items with great abilities and all that...

its all really good.

what suxs is that although the backbone ideas behind the game are great when you go out there with your toon (which you love and have put a lot into) and a massive preportion of your RVR encounters are you getting batted by multiple opponents. And it doesnt change, you buff up you go RVR, you get raped. U buff up go RVR get raped again, and again and again and again and again etc. eventually you give up. you loggin next day and same thing happens. U get less motivated to loggin and slowly forget about the game. Very occasionally you get moments though where you get some nice 1v1 fights and you get good runs where you dont get adds and the game can be awsome blast (win loose or whatever)

You cant really blaim the players, I think generally a lot of daoc players realise adding is just boring and pointless. Its the game itself. They need more intelligence behind the chance of getting adds and such. I have talked about it before. Things like all having equal speed and an honor system that actually has a negative aspect on your toon if you play like a moron, penalties for doorstepping bonus for hunting.

instead of any real intelligence with the patches that come from mythic they just seem to bolt more crap on the side of the game and come up with stupid ideas (hello 3rd ml line), when theres a few things they could do that would really address the major downsides of the game and increase the longevity of it all. thats mainly why im worried about warhammer, it could well be more of the same as daoc, eg 90% of your online pvp time is pointless.

Group of mids camping bridge,attack a lone vamp. Thane was nuking while the healer stunned (was more on far side chasing an alb), i went to help hib so they mezzed him. I mezzed them. another alb or 2 attacked mids, so used my ubeh melee to unmezz the vamp and set him upon the mids. Think they be a bit pissed at that. Great bit of claw spammage by him

Killed 4 more mids after them, managed to stop the alb killing the vamp and went merrily away till Derish went to add on me against the last mid, i pet him, get him just about dead and sharkith attacks

Dont blame him, dont like it for happening but I was having a laugh anyways, died to a god damn dot of derish after getting clear of sharkith, that was embarrising

If you want fair add free fights, and only fair add free fights then go play a different game where it's possible.

If you don't want to add then that's fine, it's upto you.

If you want to play for the good 1v1 fights that you get that's fine. Accept before you do that someone adding your 1v1 fight by adding is not "ruining your fun" they are playing their game. Ruining their fun with ingame insults makes you just as bad if not worse than them.

You have no rights to whine at anyone adding on you, it's up to them if they want to respect your fight, or "roleplay" killing the enemy.

You have no rights to whine if someone chooses not to help you because they wanted to respect your 1v1, or not "roleplay".

Here's the most important tho...
Just because someone isn't as skilled at a computer game (doesn't have as much time as you to play) does not make them a clueless wanker that should f**k off elsewhere.. Some people arn't as good at DAoC as others, that doesn't mean they shouldn't have fun trying!

Idiots are idiots because they are.. not because they are lower in skill at a computer game. Being lower in skill at a computer game doesn't make you not an idiot, but it isn't a pre-req to it.

what was the toons name? The only time I remember getting involved in a fight tonight was when an alb theurg was at Beno bridge! I aint going to say the name but I knew it immediately from all those times when I had been destroyed before that I just saw <payback> written all over your toon. Sorry but sometimes I really feel I have a right to do that!!



A chance like that does not come often and if I would not have missed PA (YET AGAIN DAMMIT) I think it would have been over much much faster.
