I didn't find his address from facebook. I found it from his bank sort code, tracing it to a location, confirmed that location is correct due to quotes taken from his bebo page, and then searching for people with his surname living in that area (1 hit only). I've also discovered other scams he's posted online, such as the classic "I've got money trapped in my paypal account. Buy my account off me for £110 and make £30 profit" and also ripping off people selling them fake War Rock retail codes.

I messaged him, very politely, explaining that I didn't believe he had the tickets, and that if he refunds me the majority of the money, he can keep the excess as a stupid tax for my gullibility, and I'll walk away. Other wise I'll be taking legal action. He replied that the money IS in his account now, and that tickets will be posted today. Not sure why he's continuing the ruse, unless he's planning to send me an empty envelope recorded delivery.

He's not a minor either. From what I can gather, he's either 19 or 20.

I'm going to compile as much evidence as I can, and then take it to the police.

(a) dishonestly makes a false representation.

(CPS: Charging guidelines, Dishonesty defined as something which is not honest.)

(b) intends, by making the representation—

(i) to make a gain for himself or another, or

(ii) to cause loss to another or to expose another to a risk of loss.

(2) A representation is false if—

(a) it is untrue or misleading, and

(it is untrue assuming he does not have the tickets)

(b) the person making it knows that it is, or might be, untrue or misleading.

(he knows that it is untrue because he does not have the tickets)

(4) A representation may be express or implied.

(he has said he has the tickets)

He has comitted an offence, given its an eitherway offence assuming he is not tried for the other offences he would end up in the magistrates court, and I would wager he has a pretty strong chance of being convicted given the nature of the fraud act and its explanation of the crime.

If you dont get your money back you could always post all his details on War Rock.

Let the mob take care of the rest, think of it as paying for a hitman :)

Send him a recorded letter giving him notice of your intention to prosecute.

Trust me, his brazen attitude will very likely melt away as soon as he believes you're going to taken him to court.

Or just fill out the court forms. It's harder for people to just bin those as if they do, you can win by default.

Post all his details on 4chan /b/ and add a story about how he hates cats...

Pretty much exactly my suggestion. You also need to check whether the full header info from the Pearl Jam ticket guy's email matches the Faith No More douche, since you suspect they are one and the same person. Besides, if you can get IP info, that's one more weapon in the arsenal...

Don't match. Doesn't mean a great deal though.

Oh noes, he has shut down his email account, what ever will I do?

Heh.

Reported him to the police now. Gave them his name, address, alternative email addresses, dob, phone number, and so on. Should make it a doddle tracking him down. What they do when they find him is anyone's guess, especially since he's only 16. If nothing else, should make his parents grumpy, having coppers turn up.

Oh, and he claims to be a hacker? And runs a hacking website? I'd have thought hackers would have had more sense online.

actually, at 16 hes old enough to not involve his parents. Its the golden age of 16 and 17 where you're young enough to get less evil punishments and old enough for your parents not to find out. I found that one out the fun way :D

Good luck getting your dorrar back Damini.

Or he is smart and either a) all the details are fake and he has left an easy trail to follow hence why easy to cyber stalk or b) he hacked someone elses account/details to do the deeds?

If so, he's so smart to have a bank account set up in his name.

Sorry to read about this, Dami.

Lots of kids claim to be hackers. Its a good way to bluff and scare and pretend they can hide easily. I've seen some internet bullying amongst school kids where one party pretends to be such.

Anyway.

Two questions:

1) How do you want to set up the sting operation on this ****.

2) What resources do we need.

:D

If the police do nothing, then I think a beat down is in order. Or at the very least, a visit to his parents explaining the situation, assuming the kid really is 16.

It's time to dispense our own brand of vigilante justice!

I love that sentence.

I am still waiting to hear back from the police. Yawn.

He really is sixteen. He used his real name to do this, because he's such a cocky shite, and it turns out that he's the only person with that name to have been born since 1984, and the location on the birth certificate matches the location of the bank sort code.

Oh noes, he cancelled his email address. NOWS I'LL NEVER FINDS HIM. Heh.

I'm tempted to send an email to his alternative address that I found, simply saying:

"nice try".

Just spoke to the policeman in Lichfield investigating this. He was laughing at how much I had found out, and then he asked what the tickets were for.

Turns out he's a Faith No More fan himself. Yays!

Don't contact him via his alternate email until you have the new one he'll setup! And don't put anything about him om here, or he'll find it via a google search.

There's plenty of things that could be done to him, but the police know you've been ripped off by him, so you'd probably be no. 1 suspect.
