There are definitely cards to avoid (those with GDDR6x memory for a start) and there are risks attached but assuming you know what you're looking for, do some research and take precautions (get them to share 3D Mark scores and diagnostics info, buy through sites that offer protection etc) there are going to be bargains to be had (especially if the requirement is just a capable graphics card) and those cards will last for years. I sold dozens of cards (clearly advertised as ex-mining) a couple of years ago (some to miners but mostly individually to gamers) and I didn't have a single dissatisfied buyer.
